Unpopular opinion here but that was an awesome chapter. I love fried and bixlow. Anyway, Shanks looked so epic his chapter! I still think hes gonna die, sacrificing himself.

actually gildarts has brown hair and i think she (assumeing shes a she) was probably was watching/reading op at the time of posting that and got confused.
Re: fairy tail current manga discussion warning may include spoilers
Didn't really enjoy this chapter too much since the developments I wanted to see (Gray and Ultear) still didn't get any "screentime" and there was no flashback or elaboration on the character that appeared at the end of last weeks chapter. Azuma's abilities seem to exist just to show how strong Erza is. Since the rest of the cast can't fight, it looks like Erza will have the spotlight for a chapter or two.
Re: fairy tail current manga discussion warning may include spoilers
This chapter was interesting. It is good to know that Azuma doesn't have two different types of magic, so if Erza can somehow nullify his Tree magic, then the explosions won't be a problem either. Now that they have mentioned that the lives of the Fairy Tail members were protected if they were on that island, now that the protection is gone, someone will die. I could imagine Gildarts dying, but it seems more practical for the Master dying. Going back to the predictions, Cana crying, now that I think about it, might be tears of joy after telling Gildarts that he is her father. Then they will have some long speech and Cana will start crying. Now for Natsu's tears, they will most likely be from the masters death, and the look and size of the hand that fell in the prediction looked like Makarov's hand, possibly meaning his death.
I am really looking forward to the upcoming Erza fight and seeing what new armor she might possess.

This chapter was great!
Glad to see that Bluenote, RustyRose, and Azuma aren't going down so easily like the other Kin members. I don't know what makes RustyRose and Azuma different than all the other Kin members, but I'm just happy cause I think we're finally getting good fights in this Arc.
I thought Azuma's magic had to do with explosions. I never guessed it would have to do with Trees. I thought it was kinda odd how he appeared from the Tree in the beginning. Interesting. I still like RustyRose's magic the best so far of the Kin members.
I guess Mashima is leaving that mysterious boy from last week's chapter as a cliffhanger for now. I was hoping for some explanation about this mysterious boy since last week's chapter was named after him.
I'm also wondering about Ultear. It does seem like she might be telling the truth and she's actually not an antagonist. I really hope this isn't the case because Ultear matches much better as an antagonist and we've never had a real strong female antagonist in this series yet so I still hope she's just playing Gray.
Re: fairy tail current manga discussion warning may include spoilers
Rusty Rose just feigning desperation again? Ugh. -_____-
Hades tells us he apparently didn't anticipate Gildarts being able to handle Bluenote. Seems the guy hasn't gauged his opponents at all. Though the Kin defeated so far were more or less countered with their own magic as well as their opponents'.
Still, what a twist. Asuma's lost magic has rendered most FT mages on the island powerless and it's now up to Erza to stop him and save everyone else.
Guess Azuma will be her big fight for the arc. Why not? The guy's already taken down two separate FT groups. Third time's the charm.
Excited to see where things are headed. Looking forward to more!
@Sennen: Agreed about Ultear. Especially considering her demeanor and what things she's done.
And it looks like the situation against the kin now has an explanation now that we know of the island's power.
Re: fairy tail current manga discussion warning may include spoilers
Sorry for the double post, but I just had to make note.
I actually find it kinda funny that Mashima actually gave a justification for them rising above the odds against high class mages using that tree. There aren't many who do so. lol
Amplification of magic and protection from death can go a long way. [The latter explaining why those who were in lethal situations were able to survive. i.e. Mirajane and Elfman/Evergreen.]
Which makes it kinda frightening that protection is gone now. O___O
Azuma really loves to put things at stake to motivate his opponents, but I think he just pulled that on the wrong woman. [especially given Erza's track record against those who threaten her friends.]

Do you mean Gildarts? I know they look somewhat alike and they both have red hair, but these are two different series.

or I do believe that could be a failed attempt at a joke X)
You can't fool me boy... I'm a god damn Sage!
