Flare (even with a sexy dress) just has this really deranged presence that really got turned up to 11 in her fight with Lucy. Her voice actress did a very good job in bringing that aspect of her character to life.
I still find it weird that her magic has to do with hair. Just the idea of weaponizing hair is quite odd.
Lucy really got gypped in the end. And I mean badly. Raven Tail really are just a bunch of cheaters. [Oh, and Flare's apparent sadism....well, I'll get back to that]
Lucy was awesome, though. The others noticed as well. She would have won if this was a fair fight.
As for this week's episode...
Natsu shows that he just suddenly got pervy and goes to peek at Lucy in the shower. And mind you, he was actually borderline chaste before the timeskip.
We see the other fights of the day before the next main event and learn some interesting facts. Like Sabertooth having a Black Lightning user (presumably a God Slayer like the black flame wielder, Zancrow), Ren Akatsuki being engaged to Sherry, and Ichiya being the strongest Blue Pegasus wizard.
Jellal goes up against Jura and we get a rather explosive fight between two Wizard Saint class fighters. Jellal is unsurprisingly wanting to help FT after four members had rather spirit-crushing bad luck that day.
However, things don't go so well for him either as Ultear and Meldy work together to bring him down when he comes too close to blowing his cover for Fairy Tail's sake. A real shame since it was a good, explosive fight up till then.
I am so glad the audience's jeering at Fairy Tail is going to stop soon as the guild starts pulling through in the coming days.
Really thought it was funny when Mavis had to use the bathroom and the others in FT pointed out the absurdity of such a thing.
Arcadios is standing there and looking evil while Carla gets a premonition of a rather disturbing message from Levy of a disaster set to happen after the Grand Magic Games.
And all the while, Fairy Tail is just fired up to do better in the coming days of the Games. Well, Mashima certainly knows how to introduce multiple subplots specific to a single arc.
Looking forward to the next episode, which will feature the start of the second day.
Lucy's fight could've used more actual fighting - it was awesome when Taurus used Sandstorm Axe: Aldebaran, I would like to have seen more combination attacks like that.
@NSM: I think a few series have used hair for fighting, Kumadori in One Piece used it, and I think I've seen it elsewhere too.
Ren and Arania's fight was underwhelming, as was Orga's fight (I was keen to see what Tear Magic was like, shame)
Jellal and Jura's fight was awesome while it lasted, I wish it could've gone on longer. Shame about Ultear, I was keen to see Cerma, also, how did Jellal learn Mystogan's magic?

it was a pretty good fight and yeah a lot of people in manga uses hair to fight and stuff i forget but i know one character in Naruto used it dont know her name and never will and then there was another but i dont know the name of the anime it was one ep and i for got to write it down when i was at school TT^TT
To put it briefly, last week's episode was entertaining.
We were introduced to Bacchus of Quatro Cerberus, who is a rival of Erza's.
Thought it was rather hilarious how he took Cana's bikini top as a trophy after winning at drinking.
Fairy Tail remains in high spirits despite the rough start.
Carla and her disturbing premonitions.
The chariot event was rather cool. The other guilds raced ahead while the Dragon Slayers were lagging behind from motion sickness.
Seems a bit of a retcon that motion sickness is part of being a Dragon Slayer.
This week's episode was just awesome.
Bacchus shows how much of a lech he is by making a bet with Elfman to have the night with his two sisters if he wins the match, which (for good reason) infuriates the latter.
We saw some great Take Overs from Elfman, but I think we can agree that his strategy was even better. Just letting Bacchus beat on him until he was worn out himself.
Thus we see Fairy Tail's first major victory in this competition. Good on you, Elfman.
Fairy Tail episode 159 “Lucy Versus Flare!”
Lucy comes into her own and shows how awesome she is.
Flare cheats, Natsu stops it
Lucy gets more awesome-er
RAVEN TAIL CHEATS HER OUT OF HER VICTORY!!!!!
RAVEN TAIL SUCKSSS!!!!!
Fairy Tail episode 160 “Bad Omen”
lol Master Mavis
lol poor Jellal

A few Naruto characters (Jiraiya, Ino, Fuka, etc) use it for individual techniques, but as far as I'm aware none of them use it as a primary weapon

Fairy Tail episode 161 “Chariot”
Oh God! Juvia's fantasy had me going! I was like
is this going to happen!!!!!!??!?!?!?!
Cana being beaten at drinking?! Fairy Tail can't even when at that!
So now it's official all Dragon Slayers other than Wendy suffer from motion sickness.
Oh poor 'Dog like person"
This is about time I dropped into the manga so I know what happens in the next fight.
Still can't wait though
This was a fun episode with a lot of comedy. I loved the gags with Juvia's fantasy and the motion sickness.
Bacchus taking Cana's bikini top was hilarious.
Carla's premonition was kinda cool.
Poor Toby couldn't get a hit in on Blacksnake.
Raven Tail is shown to be more screwed up than previously thought.
An awesome fight next episode!
