Are we going by TV series or the Rebuild movies? If it's by TV series, then Asuka because her attitude appealed to me. Her strength hiding weakness and her determination were intriguing.
Going by the Rebuild movies, Rei. REI. REI! She's gone from virtually lifeless shell to one of the best characters with a lot of subtle emotion and character growth. There's something very powerful about the new Rei. I always liked Rei but this Rei is special. (When she grabbed Asuka's hand, that's when I knew things were really different this time.)
These movies are just awesome.

Just off of the first two movies that I've seen (1.01 and 2.22), I'd have to say Misato is easily my favorite. She's just funny, bad-A, and hot all at the same time, a winning combo. After her...hmm...probably Shinji's friends from school.
I'm going with Gendo Ikari because, as much of a sissie he is for trying to bring back his dead wife back to life by killing Rei, Gendo was the type of emotionless guy who would do anything to get what he wanted, even if he got hurt in the process. I didn't like everyone else because Asuka's a b****, Rei doesn't say anything, Misato's a s***, Shinji cries about everything, Toji is pretty cool but is just a stereotypical jock, and Kozo never kicked Gendo's a** for sleeping with the girl he loved.
The only other character I could stand was probably Kaworu because of how nice he was and how he was the first angel to ever discover that the being he was searching for wasn't Adam, but actually Lilith. Ah, sometimes life just throws you a good curveball or two.

After seeing the end of 2.22, Shinji is my favorite character from anything ever. Rei as well, but what Shinji pulled... so awesome.

hmmm this is a tough one but im going to have to go with the Pen Pen, hes the deepest character in the series! I cant wait to see him beast it in 3.0
