Well, the Japanese premiere of Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo is only one month away. I hope that just scarcely before then, Funimation licenses it like they did with the Fairy Tail movie. And given reports saying that Evangelion 2.22 sold like hotcakes, especially on Blu-Ray, they have no excuse.

Licensing the third film

FUNimation cannot license it yet, since the film have not released in Japan.
Earlier this year, Funimation licensed the Fairy Tail movie: Priestess of the Pheonix, practically a week or two before it came out in Japan. That's early enough for me for Funimation to license Evangelion 3.33. If what you're saying is true though, then they should license it right after the Japanese premeire. I think it might be possible that Funimation woud dub and release the film faster than they normally would a series, because movies last around 1 to 2 hours as opposed to a whole series lasting six or twelve, or God knows how many. Right after the film comes out in Japan, I'm gonna beg Funimation to license it.

Evangelion 3.0 came out in Japan today. So what are you waiting for, Funimation? Lisence it! Now!

Have patience young one, good things come in due time. FUNi (or any other companies) will announce it when they have the license.
True. But now that it's the highest grossing film in Japan as of now, I still want Funimation to make it done lickety split.

It will probably take them the same amount of time to licence, dub and sub Q/YC(N)R as it did the other movies.
As long as we don't see a ridiculously long gap (3-4 years) between the stateside and Japan releases, I'll be happy.

Reminds me of how long it took End of Eva to reach the states >.<, hopefully something like that never happens again.
The gaps are getting shorter and shorter from the change in the business, but I am still worried it is going to be a ridiculous time for this one. especially because they have the theatrical run first, then home video release in japan, then the waiting period to soften the reverse import issues. Movies like this I would pay closer to Japanese prices to get it sooner and make importing it not worthwhile for japanese fans. I hope they will allow something like either hard subbing the subtitles for japanese track, or leaving japanese track off altogether to get a sooner release. I would prefer hard subbing to leaving it off though.
that isn't true at all, they can license it as early as an agreement can be reached, they just will have as part of the license agreement that it can't be released here until a certain time and other restrictions as I mentioned above.
Madman Ent (AU) posted this recently:
I don't expect any sort of FUNi announcement until summer/fall at the earliest (that's probably still too early).
