There are 2 seperate movies for the original series that are just remastered versions of episodes 21-26. They are Death and Rebirth, and The End of Evangelion.
To say "remastered" is disingenuous. "Death and Rebirth" was in two parts: "Death" was a recap of the whole series. "Rebirth" was the first part of End of Evangelion. End of Evangelion itself is generally regarded as an alternative interpretation of the last couple of episode of the TV series but was entirely new animation so was not "remastered".
@JullianJW: If you are watching it free and illegally then you can't complain about the quality. To find out waht happens after the UN attack (which is the point that Rebirth ends): http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000068OJ1
I personally really like the look of the box, however...
I've found that the orange covering tends to be easily damaged around the corners, and really easily flakes off. I own about 3 copies of the BluRay and DVD versions each, and I've only got one copy of each that doesn't have any damage. Most of this damage was on the case on purchase, from Amazon, FYE, RightStuf. The copies I bought from the Funimation booth's at conventions were in perfect condition, so perhaps the orange covering just doesn't hold up to excessive handling?
Just something to consider for future releases, as a collector this is something that has irked me to no end. Make sure the new material you are using on cases doesn't get damaged easily. Has any one else had this problem, where the orange starts flaking away on the edges and corners? Or am I just incredibly unlucky?
As for the actual content, as with the first movie, I'm loving all the extra features, especially the CG breakdowns. Lack of extra features has been my biggest complaint with releases, so it's good to see some great extras with Eva.
I'm personally a dub person, but my girlfriend prefers subs, so this past weekend I finally watched 2.22 in Japanese with the subtitles, and I was a little disappointed when I noticed some significant differences in the content of some of the character's lines, such as the fact that Mari comments on how she's more comfortable speaking Japanese for her first time in the Eva. I realize this could be a bit confusing in the dub, since they are all speaking English, but they pulled it off fairly well in the original series when Asuka and Shinji were both in Unit Two and Asuka yells at him for thinking in Japanese instead of German. Plus it was more confusing later in the movie, when Mari is talking about her covert operations on the phone, right in front of Shinji. Without watching the Japanese dub, you don't realize that she's speaking on the phone in English, which Shinji (speaking Japanese) probably couldn't understand.
That said, I do still love the dub. Trina's performance of Mari makes her seem just a little bit more crazy than in the Japanese version, but it worked really well. J Michael Tatum as Kaji was great as well, and I was ecstatic to see Tiffany return as Asuka. And as always the rest of the cast (Spike, Brina, Allison, etc) were great.
All in all a great release from Funimation (except for the damage with the case), and I'm looking forward to the next movie... whenever that will be.

After reading your post, I checked my copy, and the orange cover is slightly damaged around the corners on mine as well.
I ordered mine from Right Stuf, but I'm not really sure if the damage was there on arrival or not.
That kinda sucks. I don't really mind minor damage to my DVD/BD cases, but I prefer for them to be in essentially perfect, if not mint, condition (ie. the plastic wrap must go!). I guess that makes this BD the first in my still infantile BD collection to have any such damage, though I do have a few boxes in my DVD collection that have some minor blemishes as well.

There is no site on the Internet where the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV series, Death & Rebirth, or The End of Evangelion is streamed legally. Any site which does so is doing so illegally and without permission.

That is a bummer, I was really hoping that I just got a bad batch or something. It's specifically the orange covering that's flaking off, because on the BluRay Edition, the blue strip at the top signifying it as a BluRay doesn't flake, even at the corners.
Perhaps, if Funimation decides to re-release 2.22, they can fix this? It is a bit depressing when I look at my collection and see the edges flaking away.
I got the same flaking on the orange box was irked by it but, it was $16 so I'll just live with it. Also the flap won't stay closed even with the sticker thing that is suppose to hold it.
I admire the trying to emulate the Japanese packaging but I personally do not care for slip covers. I was hoping it would be similar to the 1.11 package or just keep the Japanese packaging.
The movie itself is fantastic though really like this version keep em coming.
I thought the movie was utterly fantastic. I love Eva. The graphics were so gorgeous. Shinji had great character development.
