Dragon Ball Z Kai (TV Edited) DVD/Blu-Ray Release?

I would be interested to know if there's any plans on releasing the TV Edited version of Dragon Ball Z Kai, more along the lines of the NickToons edit than the CW4Kids' Toonzai edit, for the younger fans of the show.

I have heard of other anime series' having a TV Edited release.

I hope not. Censoring Dragon ball is a sin.

Probably not, the only time outside of Gun x Sword (which features the self censored version of Ep 17 as an extra) where we got the censored/tv broadcast version on a physical release are cases where the company in question doesn't care about giving uncut releases or isn't interested in doing so in the near future.

It would clog up the market further if we had Kai cut just to satisfy younger viewers and put on the shelves. Anyway, what is so explicit in Kai which has some censorship in comparison to Z which is more tame in comparison to the manga? If the child is too sensitive to watch the actual Kai, they shouldn't be watching any of Dragon Ball methinks...

Well, Dragon Ball was never meant for little kids in the first place. The target was teen boys to young adults.

Anime companies now in days really only provide one option. You'll either get censored or uncut DVDs, but not both. FUNimation used to release censored and uncut DBZ side by side, as did VIZ Media for a short time with Naruto.

But the industry has changed since then as it's largely fueled by fans who want uncut releases, and companies like VIZ and FUNimation just don't see the point in making two separate versions apart from toning down their TV broadcasts when necessary. Likewise, when you see shows that are censored and Americanized on home video you're not likely to see it accompanied by an uncut version since marketing now tends to go one way or the other.

That's debatable. 'Little kids' are definitely a part of the show's target audience, especially DBZ which drops much of the pervy humor and the like seen in Dragon Ball. The show is enjoyed by all ages. Sure the uncut manga and anime releases tend to be branded with a sort of 'PG 13' rating, but so is Spiderman and a handful of super hero movies that most kids in Elementary school have seen (excepting those with stricter parents).
