Remember back in August when we speculated that Manga Entertainment would be releasing Dragon Ball Z in the UK, only to have our evidence shot down in flames?
Well, those rumours are back with interest now, with the official MCM London Expo guide book which has just been released not just making mention of Dragon Ball Z, but instead offering up a full-page advertisment on page thirty-three for the release of the show's first volume on DVD.
The advert in question claims that season one of the series, containing episodes 1 to 39 in remastered form, will be released on DVD by Manga Entertainment on December 26th this year in the UK as a six-disc collection, with future volumes on the way next year no doubt.
It seems certain now that Dragon Ball Z is going to reach our shores at last - will you be picking it up upon its UK release?

Wow that's cool sadly it's little too late for me cause I already own 6 out of 7 Dragonboxes for Z and will get the 7th at Doki Doki, still it's nice to hear Manga licenced DBZ finally for us. Currently the only thing I get from them is Naruto Shippuuden which seems like their cash cow, but if we're lucky the movies may come over here too so it will also be fun to see what reviews it gets at - http://www.myreviewer.com/
Just to keep in mind, that review site is very stict about quality and image, since this releace didn't sell well over where you are I take it mostly everyone will give negative reviews to it. If so it may not sell well over here at all!

The U.K. is getting the ..... Orange Brick set?! Congrats?!
It's my understanding that they didn't have the show available at all before, without importing. Even the 'orange bricks' are better than nothing.

I wonder what is the number of UK fans that like the FUNimation dub over the Ocean dub.
Because going by Youtube comments those people hate FUNi VA with a passion. I can agree that the FUNimation's Ginyu/Freiza saga voice acting wasn't very good but everything after that is better than Ocean sorry (don't wanna start a war)
UK fans get the dubious honor of having zoomed-in, detail-lost, skewered boxsets of DBZ. Hooray for them.
Manga have asked UKA to remove the article and they have capitulated.
It's pretty obvious they do have it, despite denials. so as long as Toei don't pull a strop at the leak...
Signature? What signature?
That's exactually how Manga are, they aleardy unvieled this at the MCM expo over here in Europe in July at Manchesters GMEX. Their twitter is owned by a bunch of cheeky monkeys who want to put them to shame cause they hate their jobs there so don't believe their bad attitude they mentioned this that they were planning to unviel DBZ back then.
And now seem to do it at the next MCM coming up near the end of October...

I am positively elated, good sir.
And yes, Gyt_Kaliba we didn't have a Region 2 DBZ release of the show till now.
I do have a 2005 printed copy of the "Big Green Dub" of Dragon Ball Z: Super Saiya Son Goku (basically the Lord Slug movie and it was worth the money) so I think we probably got a few of those here as well before Manga UK did this.
Would have been more happy if it was One Piece, not a show which I have lived through the plot of a thousand times especially the flawed Orange Box editions which were already Region 1 (North America), 2 (Japan and UK) and 4 (Aussie Land) from the start.
Contrary to what you think, SS5ant.
We should be pretty neutral as far as dubs go. If I was to pretend that I am a valid example, I watched the Ocean dub the whole way and enjoyed it (as a child yeah). Played some Dragon Ball Z games in Japanese up to Budokai 1/2 (GameCube was Japanese) till FUNimation suddenly was stuffed down my throat with some voices which felt like imitations of Ocean's efforts (as they kinda were and it was cool).
I would bet most of the buyers of DBZ games didn't really notice the voice change at all and that the ones who argue on the forums for half a decade would respect that there was never a good Dragon Ball English dub in the end (Kai comes close though).
Oh and is Ocean Dragon Ball Kai still coming?
As much as Manga Entertainment UK is FUNimation's primary supplier and having two types of the same good on the market would be odd. FUNimation has balanced three releases or so of DBZ at the same time.

I like both dubs, although I more use to the FUNi dub now.
This is an... interesting turn of events. I honestly didn't see this coming at all. I thought it would be more likely for them to pick up Kai. I guess I was wrong!
Lets hope these sell well! Any Dragon Ball is better than no Dragon Ball!
It'll be interesting to see the reaction by the fans to see that this will (I'm assuming) have the FUNimation English dub. Hopefully people realize it would be impossible to put either the Saban dub of Eps. 1-67/1/53 with the Vancouver cast or the AB Groupe EuroCanadian dub of 105 (?, it was "Goku's Special Technique")-291 with the Vancouver cast on a bilingual DVD. One: it would lack consistency considering the "Ocean dub" is technically consisted of two incomplete dubs (and even then, there's a large gap in-between the episodes they cover), and second, both are edited, one much more severely than the other. I thought the voice acting in the Saban episodes was good, but the script and editing were both very questionable. Even though the later AB Groupe dub of the second half of the series was less edited, the voice acting was atrocious, especially in the beginning (Allistair Abell as Trunks was the worst voice IMO), plus the recycled Megaman music was also pretty shoddy (the whole dub was only made to compile with Canadian broadcast standards, and was distributed in Europe since the two territories shared AB Groupe as a distributor). I wouldn't trust YouTube as a reliable source when trying to see which dub is more popular in the UK or Canada. I'm sure most people buying these DVDs wouldn't care about the voices (after all, Canada has been getting DVDs with the FUNimation dub for years, plus parts of the FUNi dub were broadcast in both Canada and Europe, not to mention it's been almost a decade since DBZ has been on the air in either Canada or the UK).
I wonder if they'll pick up DB, DBGT, or the movies!
