From ANN:

Production of an anime adaptation of Dragon Ball Episode of Bardock, the Dragon Ball spinoff manga that Naho Ōishi serialized in Shueisha's V Jump magazine in three installments earlier this year, has been green-lit. The anime is part of the launch of the "Dragon Ball Force Project."

Well that was...entirely unexpected.
On the one hand, I'm thrilled as a fan for more, naturally. On the other though...I wasn't all that fond of Episode of Bardock. I mean, it's leagues above Ooshi's other DB works thus far, but that's not saying much. Also, being 200+ episodes into DBZ sub reviewing, the thought of yet ANOTHER thing jumping in to be reviewed, is like a facepalm moment for me.
I'm cautiously excited though, let's hope it's good. I'm more interested in this 'Dragon Ball Force Project' though.

If they want to bring us more DBZ, there's a whole story arc that was never Kai'd.
I'll definitely check this new thing out, but doesn't
Come to Otaku Revolution!
Yeah and that's how Frieza's clan learns about Saiyans.
@penguintruth - Wait. Bardock really became one?!?!
Anyway, I love Bardock; I'm so excited for this!!! This really made my day :D
PATTY THOMPSON FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm not fully against the idea of Bardock...doing what he does here...but I do wish the story for it had been more compelling. Hopefuly the anime adaption will have a little more meat to it.

I'm really excited about this release. I heard about it about a week ago. It should be quite interesting.
Sadly, I don't check these forums often since FUNimation has left them to die. 6 months later and it seems everything regarding posting is still broken. Not too mention insanely slow loading.
Anyways... I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of the Dragon Ball Saikyo Super Saiyan Secret Project. I think Kai, The Plan To Eradicate The SS, and Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!! were Toei's way of getting their feet wet with Dragon Ball again. I bet we see a brand new series or continuation by 2015.

So basically this is the story of what happened before goku was sent to earth and planet vegeta was destroyed by frezia.
So, basically, what you guys are saying is that we might actually get to see more of Frieza's race, maybe even Frieza's mother, Goku's mother, and the oppression of the Saiyans? Hmmm, this could be interesting.
I doubt they'll change THAT much fro the manga. ^_^; Chances are, the only characters we'll see in this are Bardock; brief snippets of Frieza, Dodoria, and Zarbon; Chilled and his minions; and the new alien race who's name I can't for the life of me remember.

Are you referring to Beri and Ipana? If so, I believe they are indigenous to the Planet Plant.
