My favourite Digimon series is Tamers.
I've still never seen the whole of Digimon 02, and unfortunately none of the Toei streams are available in the UK so all I have (legal) access to is the first three episodes I have on VHS. If I was to go to the length of importing any Digimon series from Japan it would undoubtedly be Tamers, but unfortunately the box set not only has no English subs is is also extremely expensive.
Adventure 02 is my favorite part of the Digimon franchise actually, but I won't lie, it is flaawwweeed beyond belief in many ways. It's the one I remember best too though, so obviously I'm biased.
I'd buy every series if we actually got them on DVD here though, even the lackluster Data Squad (which I already have part of).
Personally, 02 is my second-least favorite series (my least favorite being Data Squad). I wouldn't call it bad (the only Digimon series I regard as actually being bad is Data Squad.), however it just did not grab me. Not the plot, not the characters, nothing about it really grabbed me into the story. The only character that interested me in the series was T.K (grew up on the dub, sorry), because of the whole "kill all darkness" side of him that he had developed between Adventure and 02. Personally I would have liked to see that part of his personality explored more. It could have made an interesting subplot.
To make a long story short, I found the series rather boring and it has very little rewatch value for me. Even if I was to watch the original uncut version. As for my favorite series, they are as follows: Digimon Xros Wars > Digimon Tamers > Digimon Adventure > Digimon Frontier > Digimon Adventure 02 > Digimon Data Squad.

I like this series and it's my third favorite. My order from greatest to least Digimon series:
1. Adventure
2. Tamers
3. Adventure 02
4. Frontier
5. Xros Wars
6. Data Squad
Man, I hate Data Squad so much it doesn't deserve to be on the list. Tamers was amazing, but the original series is the best. I LOVE the movie though and I'll watch it once every three months or so to get into that Digimon feel. So, Funimation has the rights to this now? I'm so confused. Are they going to re-dub it? I hope they don't. I like Fox Kids cast (they were the people who dubbed it right?)

Funimation doesn't have the rights to release it. Toei's the one doing the streaming--Funimation's only being allowed to show them (which is why the subtitles aren't very good).
I'd like a re-dub with any voice cast just so we could hear the shows in English with their amazing scores, but that's just me.
This was my favorite season as well. I really don't know why it is, I guess it just comes down to the fact that I love all of the characters. It has the original ones and you get to see how they've changed, and it has new ones that I like just as much. I love Jogress evolution a lot as well. There are too many things I love about it to list them all though, those are just the main ones. The only thing I DON'T like about it is the epilogue. I actually liked the ending, it was just the epilogue that blew chunks.
My favorite seasons in order:
Adventure 02 (Amazing)
Adventure (Also amazing)
Tamers (Easily the darkest season, which I love about it)
Xros Wars (Very unique compared to the others, I like it quite a bit)
Data Squad (Couldn't get into this season at all)
Frontier (Ruined everything I loved about Digimon)

Chaos, Panic and Disorder... my work here is done ^_^
It occurs to me that I haven't really given my overall opinion on 02 on this forum.
02 is...uneven. That's really the best way to describe it. The show has lots of good ideas--and that's its problem. It has too many ideas that are mish-mashed together rather sloppily. I learned on a video review that it's the only Digimon show to have more than one story supervisor (it had two that oversaw seven "scenario" planners), and as the saying goes, "Too many cooks spoil the broth." There's simply too much going on and it doesn't feel adequately tied together.
The show also has the weakest cast of heroes (in my humble opinion). Aside from Ken, they're simply not very interesting--which is a big problem because to me, Digimon's greatest strength (aside from its music) is the characters. They get some development (Iori/Cody near the end in particular), but it's just not enough.
Still, this isn't a bad show, just uneven. It may have lots of stuff I don't like, and I don't hesitate to call it the weakest show, but its high points (the last three episodes with the Digimon Kaiser, Ken's one-episode transition from villain to hero, the final battle featuring possibly my favorite Digimon song of all time) stand tall with Digimon's best moments.
My ranking of the Digimon shows I've seen (haven't seen Xros Wars yet) would go like this:
1/2. Digimon Adventure/Digimon Tamers (I'd have to see Adventure again to decide which is which)
3. Digimon Frontier
4. Digimon Savers
5. Digimon Adventure 02
That is why I really need to get around and force myself to re-watch all of 02 again (first time for the sub all the way through though), to see if I still like it as much as I used to. Just going off of nostalgia though, its my favorite season. The cast of characters is a bit weaker, but Daisuke alone keeps me interested. He's my favorite Gogglehead for some reason.
If I had to rank the seasons (though I haven't seen beyond the first few episodes of Xros Wars).
And I'd probably slip the X-Evolution film...between Adventure and Tamers. Wow, looking at it, with the exception of 02, my favorites list is in production order. I know Frontier gets a lot of hate, but once you get past the 'humans turning into Digimon' thing, it's actually entertaining enough. Savers...just doesn't feel like a Digimon series at times.

To me this series was good in a lot of ways, except for the ending.
I don't really know if I can compare it to the first Digimon Adventure as so much is different.
