Normally if a show is good enough I wouldn't mind a title change if i wanted to buy it, for example My Bride is a Mermaid, but this change is bad enough to make me reconsider.
A major problem with potential titles is the nature of the show. Incorporating the words cat/kitty with the words come to play makes for a rather awkward problem with suggestiveness. "Kitty Wants to Play" or "Cat Comes to Play" sound even more like soft-core pornography than the currently proposed title. Since "We've Come to Play" and "Bombshells From the Sky" are apparently both out, we're left with very few alternatives.
Sadly, can't think of too many puns for this show.
No fear Richard. I still intend to get the series. I just think the name change was a bad choice. They really should have just left it the original title. this change isn't their best work they have done. And since this story isn't even about the planet from where these girls came from. The title is a bit missleading I think.
Odd seeing as "Let's go play" is a really innocuous phrase that normally elicits a fun and carefree frame of mind. While the term "Cutie" in titles is used mostly by smut peddlers of xxx websites and movies.
Really? I want you potentially picture what the boxart might be as well as keeping the "Let's go Play" title. If it was something cutesy or something concerned with some kind of sports being the center of attention, yes, it could be just fun and care free. But as we all know, nuh uh, that probably isn't gonna happen. Most likely it will have the guy and either Eris or all 3 of the girls around him. Now, put the translated title on there, with at least 2 of the 3 girls in skirts, one in a skin tight red outfit, and 2 of the girls have chests about the size of large grapefruits and cantaloupes respectively that aren't really that well covered up. Any sense of care free fun is then thrown completely out the window into highway traffic.
Also, 'cutie' is a term used for anyone whom another perceives 'as being cute', which also denotes a sense of innocence, either with looks or actions. Why you have to immediately relate that to pornos is quite honestly beyond me.
Also, this is America, even with the knowledge of anime being spread around, as far as I've been able to tell, the general consensus usually put it into 2 categories: "Perversion" or "Saturday morning cartoon". Really, giving it the title they gave it isn't so bad when you think about it as it gives a slight overview of what the show would be about.
Bombshells From the Sky would be an okay alternative, as it also somewhat accurately relates the general synopsis of the story. Titles usually relate to either an overall theme or major story point, though some can be quite ambiguous.
I dunno tho i might still get it when it comes out as a value package.. although i would like to see what the bonus features that come with it... (and no OP/ED textless Songs and previews contrary to popular belief isn't a feature)
I don't care this show was awesome, (They should have kept it the same though). to be honest to god this title sounds more like it should be a porno then anything, just putting that out there. if I text my girlfriend when she asked me what I was watching
"Whatcha watching bab?"
"Cat Planet Cuties. Why?"
"You know that's why people say you have issues."
"My issues is that I love anime and this show is funny."
"OMG I thought you were watching a... never mind I'll be at your house in a bit."
"Your sick woman."

I reject your reality and replace it with my own.

Argh, I'm a pirate!
Cutie is a term used by the porn industry to try and seem innocent. it has the opposite effect when used in the context of a show's title
Tantei's FTW
Well, if your unhappy with a title name, then suit yourself.
Personally, I don't think it should decide whether or not you should buy a series that you'll enjoy though.
I probably will still buy it but not the first print of it now, since I don't want to pay to much for it now.
