I have been interested in Case Closed for a while but I was really put off by it when I saw the full Japanese episode count of it and that only the first 120ish episodes were dubbed only that I decided I would give up on it since I wanted to watch a whole bunch of other animes but now since I have been out of shows to watch lately and that I will never have as much free time as I have now for the rest of my life, I have decided to give Case Closed a try but I want to watch the whole series and not just a part of it so I decided that I was going to start all the way from episode 1 today and continue to watch it in Japanese only since lets face it, Funimation will not dub any more of the series unless it sells extremely well out of no where which is probably never going to happen so I just finished the first episode just now and was satisfied with it but it is going to take a few episodes to get used to calling the main characters Shinichi and Ran instead of Jimmy and Rachel but I will probably get used to the names and voices. So mostly I am keeping this forum post as a time stamp to when I started on Case Closed. So I am going to continue on to see if I can make it to the latest episode, which will take probably almost a year to finish. So, wish me luck.

Going to try to watch the whole series

Good luck, I guess.
As I am somewhat who started with the Japanese manga (not a Japanese reader though if you get what I mean) who was insulted by how the anime was massacred by TMS prior to any localisation and during localisation.
I won't be able to be as friendly as I typically am when users are discussing an franchise which I went over 700 chapters into.
There isn't much point of this thread unless you plan to come back and inform us of any advances.
You could quite easily write a note of where you area and when in a diary or NotePad text file if you don't want to discuss the points and differences.
So get back to us or this forum will stagnate even further, ya hear?

Hey, thanks for responding back thelastgogeta. As for my Case Closed status, I came all the way to finishing episode 50 and am on hiatus for now since episode 51 is a one hour special and that the source I was watching it from, which was a Youtube account called 2011PROV or PROV2011, got deleted recently so I will probably continue after about a few months of tuning out.
There is actually a whole entire "project" dedicated to translating all the Detective Conan episodes, movies, "magic files", OVAs and much, much more. If you are still interested in continuing to watch the entirety of the show up to date.
Don't ask for guarantees. And don't look to be saved in any one thing, person, machine, or library. Do your own bit of saving, and if you drown, at least die knowing you were heading for shore.
Well, it has been over 4 months since I have made this post and I decided as of today that I will be stopping my goal with finishing Case Closed or with how I am used to saying it now, Detective Conan. I was only able to make it to episode 56 and stopped right after that somewhere in Novemeber. There are a couple reasons why I stopped and one reason was that I was getting tired of going to illegal fansub sites because I am now getting used to going to Crunchyroll and Fuinimatrion.com that I cannot go onto an illegally run site with video quality that does not even compare to legal streaming sites. Another reason was that even if I did catch up, there would be no similcast I could go to so I would have to continute to go to illegal fansub stites in order to continute watching the show. Finally the main reason why I stopped was mostly because a lot of other anime titles where really attracting my attention and the one anime title that made me stop watching Detective Conan completely was the 1999 version of Hunter X Hunter because I was really enjoying the remake and saw that all the original series was on YouTube. So I chose to watch all 92 episodes of Hunter X Hunter and after I finished it, I decided that I would not go back to Detective Conan and just move on to other anime titles that are shorter and streamed on legal websites.
watching all 640 episodes only makes me more angry , because i think about how far we could be in english and how much this show needs 2 come back
