It's been a while, hasn't it?
Found this on Fandom Post, figured it was worth some discussion...

Of course, could be a lot of nothing, but if true, could be the start of something big. I know I'll definitely subscribe if more episodes are streamed in the hopes of more Conan released on DVD. That 5% hope in the last Funi ANN Cast?
Pretty sure Conan did not have streaming rights in the initial contract, else we would have seen it by now. Hmmm...
Let's just say I will be very glad to be wrong about Conan being done. Even if it is just streaming new episodes or simulcasting, I'll take it in a heartbeat. This is one of the few scenarios that I think Conan has the ability to work in the US, and I'm hoping it is given the chance.
Discuss.

I was quite surprised to see it in the streaming schedule. I own all 5 vol. and all the movies currently available, and would love to add more to my collection. At the very least, it would be nice to have episode 131+ available to watch legally. The fact that it is being added to streaming means that at the very least, it is still on Funimation's minds.
I'm excited at the thought of having new DVD's with a dub that meets current standards. I'm a big dub fan, but unfortunately, Case Closed is one of the few animes I watch in sub. I just couldn't get past all the script changes, and making every single person have an american name that usually sounded horrible. I mean seriously, Harley Hartwell? Come on. Dubs have come a long way, so it would be nice for Case Closed to get the dub it deserves. My concern, however, would be that Funimation would dub it in the same style as before to keep it in line with the older episodes. Of course, all of this thought is extremely premature, there is a good chance nothing will come from this. Although, if the streaming numbers are high, it might show Funi that there is strong interest in this show. Hell, I might even re-watch episodes so I can add to those streaming numbers.
Hey matthewlow, it's nice to see again.
Thanks for sharing! After doing some research, it appears FUNimation's interest to stream Conan has something to do with ADK, Toei, Aniplex, Sunrise, TMS, NAS, Dentsu to Stream Anime Overseas. If I had to guess, I think FUNimation is just streaming what they have of Case Closed until they lose their license and ADK takes over.
その名は・・・ 名探偵コナン!
Sono na wa... Meitantei Conan!
His name is... Detective Conan!
That's interesting, didn't realize that. Although, while I can see the Japanese insisting on American names, I bet they didn't demand that they be ridiculous sounding.
its just good 2 see some interest back on case closed i own all 5 seasons. either way im watching
Actually, CC was also on the FUNimation Channel and Colors TV.
Nope, there was a FUNimation Channel programming block on Colors TV and the hope was that the block would help get the FUNimation Channel on more TV service providers.
Olympusat Media owned Colors TV and runs (& co-owns) the FUNimation Channel.
I read that topic as well. Someone else brought that up in the thread I linked. However, the key to consider is that if Funimation had the rights to streaming Conan in the first place, it would have likely been done so a long time ago. Funi got Conan before streaming was ever really a thing, and from what I recall they never had the rights to begin with.
The big news here is if I'm correct, Funimation would have had to obtain said rights in the first place. Considering Conan news has been near zero for the last few years, it's something.
That said, I'm hoping for Daisuki to stream Conan. It seems like a logical choice to me.
Is there a possibility that the streaming rights can also make the show go up on Hulu as well? Asking because I really don't enjoy using the Funimation player because it does not keep track on what episode I am on and Hulu does that fine. Another reason I am asking is because I think almost everything that Funimation has licensed has the subbed version available for free on Hulu but not Case Closed.
