Finally, our last broadcast dub announcement is no stranger to longtime Funimation fans—Fairy Tail Zero! Here’s the English cast to all of the brand-new characters featured in this prequel to the famous shounen anime series.
Episode 1 of the broadcast dub hits Funimation Streaming Service tonight at 9pm EST – headHEREto watch (and select “Zero” from the Season dropdown menu)!
This prequel series depicts the founding of the Fairy Tail guild. Many years ago, Mavis Vermilion was a servant on Sirius Island, mistreated by a guild master and his daughter, Zera. But Mavis stayed positive, because her mother once told her that fairies never visit people who cry about their problems. When the guild came under attack, Mavis pulled Zera from the wreckage into the forest. Seven years went by, and the powerful wizards Warrod Sequen, Precht, and Yuri Dreyer arrived on the island, seeking a powerful jade gemstone. This journey would change the course of magical history.

What a purrfect day it is for cat fanciers everywhere as it’s time to celebrate the annual National Cat Day! We wanted to share a few of our favorite feline friends from the FUNimation family, but that doesn’t mean we covered every cute kitty out there. Let us know what your favorite anime cat is below in the comments or share your personal picks with us on Twitter or Facebook!
The magical feline from Soul Eater is known to have a trick or two up her sleeve, weaving her spells to help Maka and Soul wherever she can. But Blair has a fun side, too, and isn’t afraid to show off a little fur every now and then. Usually cats despise the notion of taking a bath, but this feisty kitty loves to splash around in the tub while in her human form from time to time. A little fan service never hurt, right?
Not all cats hail from Earth, you know. Eris initially needs time to convince Kio and his friends that she hails from a distant world called Catia (obviously), but her use of advanced technology clearly put such doubts to rest. Much like any cat and their owner, Eris develops a strong emotional bond with Kio, whom she eventually selects to be her mate. Things get a little out of hand after she entered her first heat, but Eris’ passion eventually subsides, allowing her to resume her normal duties as the playful ambassador of Catia.
The loyal feline companion of the guild, Happy constantly showcases his resolve despite his relatively small stature. True to the stereotype, Happy isn’t a fan of dogs and absolutely can’t refuse fish for a meal. While he usually displays an upbeat demeanor, Happy is known to show off a darker side every now and then, especially when it comes to the use of the magical arts. Though it’s not all toil and trouble — when Happy conjures up a bit of magic we get to see those adorable wings of his in action!
First introduced to us in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Beerus serves as the destroyer within the seventh universe and seeks out a confrontation with Goku. Despite being able to obliterate planets with ease, Beerus does live up to the expectations of a cat — he enjoys sleeping for long periods of time, grooming himself, and feasting on gourmet fish. Beerus can also get upset very easily at the most mundane offenses, yet at other times he exhibits well-mannered nature that makes you wonder if he’s really a villain at all. He’s just your ordinary, every day feline deity who might just blow up Earth if the sushi isn’t to his liking. Talk about a picky eater.
Fiercely competitive and territorial, Kyo Sohma is your average, ordinary, everyday human cursed by the spirit of the cat of the zodiac. The orange haired boy seems normal enough, but when hugged by anyone of the opposite gender, including his first encounter with Tohru, Kyo immediately transforms into a cute an adorable little cat. And it’s not just a physical likeness, either — even when in human form, Kyo dislikes water, gets lazy when it’s raining, drinks a lot of milk, and becomes easily frightened by sudden, loud noises. He also shares an intense rivalry with Yuki, who represents the rat from the Chinese Zodiac, who according to legends tricked the cat out of its spot on the zodiac.
Sio Ogura is a shy misfit who’d rather talk about tanks than gossip about girl stuff. She’s plagued by reoccurring dreams of ancient battle scenes, and her only friend is a kindhearted popular girl named Asao. But Sio’s life takes an explosive turn when a school field trip is interrupted by an outbreak of Evolutionary Invaders: hideous alien creatures hell-bent on nuking the planet. During a daring attempt to rescue Asao, Sio discovers that she’s an E-Gene Holder: the reincarnation of a historical figure capable of summoning special weaponry. Possessed by the spirit of legendary warrior Oda Nobunaga, Sio joins forces with the reincarnated versions of Jack the Ripper, Galileo, and Geronimo for a high octane alien shooting spree. Survival is a longshot, but in the battle to save humanity, Sio’s the girl with the biggest gun!
The eye-popping world of women’s professional wrestling is sweaty, sadistic, and savagely sexy. Famous Japanese pop idol Sakura Hagiwara is better suited for the dance floor than the wrestling ring, but this ravishing songstress is about to put her body to the ultimate test. When she and fellow idol Elena are assigned to pose as wrestlers for a very special show, a vicious lady brawler by the name of Rio decides to teach the girls a lesson they won’t soon forget. Rio unleashes a flurry of ferocious of attacks on Elena, contorting her divine female form into an array of very naughty positions. Shocked by the blush-inducing beating taken by her friend, Sakura vows to get her heavenly curves ready to rumble and redeem the good name of idols everywhere by becoming a bona fide diva of the pro-wrestling world!
When an unstoppable force descends upon Magnolia and Fairy Tail, the entire town is transported to Edolas, a world where magic is in short supply. There, a power-hungry kingdom plans on draining the captured guild’s magic. As Natsu and company search for their friends, they discover a parallel plane where a tough-as-nails Lucy runs a bizarro version of Fairy Tail and Erza is a ruthless enemy.
Then Edolas power-hungry monarch harnesses the power of the Dragon Slayers, igniting all-out war. But his ambition doesn’t stop there: once Natsu and his teammates are out of the picture, he’s heading to Fiore to steal all of its magic as well. Fairy Tail’s actions will decide the future of two worlds, but they’ll be lucky if they can save even one.

In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the murderous monster behind the lectern will teach his students everything he knows about the assassination game. The stakes are high, but with each adventure, Luffy adds a new friend to his gang of Straw Hat Pirates! Like his hero Gold Roger, this is one captain who’ll never drop anchor until he’s claimed the greatest treasure on Earth – the Legendary One Piece!
Across the Fiore kingdom, wizards join guilds and make their pay by filling magical needs—but one guild has a reputation as the roughest, rowdiest, most dangerous of all: Fairy Tail!
When four young Fairy Tail members unite, their bond is forged by a power found in neither muscle nor magic and grows stronger with every mission. Whatever you do, don’t mess with these friends or you’ll get a taste of Natsu’s flaming fist or Gray’s ice hammer, suffer a painful blow from one of Lucy’s celestial spirits or catch the edge of Erza’s mighty blade! Whether they’re stopping demons from devastating the world or wrestling in the mess hall, this mystical team manages to inflict as much damage to their rivals as they do to the surrounding area!
The most epic magic tournament in history continues as Fairy Tail attempts to snatch victory from the strongest guilds in the Grand Magic Games. The competition heats up as the guilds in the competition start playing dirty, Erza takes it upon herself to challenge one hundred deadly opponents, and four dragon slayers battle it out in an epic fight unlike anything the Fiore Kingdom has ever seen—one that threatens to rip the entire arena apart. But as the spells fly in the games, a conspiracy targeting one of Fairy Tail’s members plays out behind the scenes, and a dark, familiar magic permeates the air. With the magical world completely focused on the competing guilds, a looming threat gains power—but will anyone notice before it’s too late?
