Otaku USA Magazine recently posted an interview with Ping Pong director Masaaki Yuasa to get a little insight on how his unique mind works. The interview discusses some of his work on The Tatami Galaxy and the currently streaming Ping Pong – The Animation. Click here to read the interview.

 

If you are unfamiliar with Masaaki Yuasa’s work, he is well known for his unusual free form style. Having worked in varying capacities on shows like Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Michiko & Hatchin, Samurai Champloo, Kick-Heart, and most recently–Ping Pong – The Animation, Yuasa even guest directed an upcoming episode of the popular TV show Adventure Time! FUNimation Aquires TOKYO GHOUL

Flower Mound, TX – (06/07/14) – FUNimation Entertainment® announced today that it has acquired the simulcast and home video rights to the complete anime series, Tokyo Ghoul.  Based on the manga series by Sui Ishida from Studio Pierrot – the studio that brought you Bleach and Yu Yu Hakusho – the series is directed by Shuhei Morita who received an Oscar-nomination at the 86th Academy Awards for his short film, Possessions.

 

The title will simulcast in July on FUNimation.com.

 

Synopsis:

 

In modern day Tokyo, society lives in fear of Ghouls: mysterious creatures that look exactly like humans, yet hunger insatiably for their flesh. None of this matters to Ken Kaneki, a bookish and ordinary young man, until a dark and violent encounter turns him into the first ever Ghoul-human half-breed. Trapped between two worlds, Ken must survive the violent conflicts of warring Ghoul factions while attempting to learn more about Ghoul society, his newfound powers, and the fine line between man and monster.

FUNimation acquires rights to Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist

FUNimation Entertainment announced today, that they have acquired the home video and digital distribution rights to the recently released, hit web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist. While FUNimation will be handling distribution in the United States and Canada through their Giant Ape live action label, they are working with international distributors Manga Entertainment and Madman Entertainment, who will be distributing Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist in the United Kingdom and Australia, respectively.

 

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist was released as a 12 episode web series by Machinima, the number-one global video entertainment network for young males, on May 23, 2014. Since its release, the series has received millions of views, along with praise from entertainment and games media alike. FUNimation Entertainment will be releasing Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist as a 143 minute, feature-length film – which will contain 13 minutes of exclusive bonus footage not seen in the web series. Fans can also look forward to receiving loads of extra features; including behind-the-scenes clips, interviews with the cast and crew, deleted scenes, and much more.

Date A Live – Dating Game Interactive

Do you have what it takes to win over the ladies of Date A Live? Inspired by the anime, FUNimation will be hosting an interactive dating game at A-kon this weekend (Friday, June 6th @ 1:45pm in Peacock Terrace) where you can test your wits against our panel of romance experts! You can even play along via Twitter! (see details below) However, before we can begin the game, we need a little help from you!

 

Here are three questions we’ll be asking during the game. We need you to come up with multiple choice answers for each of these questions.
