Maken-Ki! English Cast Announcement

It’s time for another English Cast Announcement! Meet the gorgeous students and staff of Tenbi Academy! Maken-Ki! tells the story of Takeru, your typical girl crazy guy who’s about to get a whole lot more than he signed up for. Here’s a synopsis of the series:

Takeru enrolled in Tenbi Academy because the girl-to-guy ratio is, like, 3 girls for every guy. But this bevvy of bombshells is actually a school where teens beef up their combat skills using a magic power thingy called a Maken. Redheads with wicked high kicks, shocking blonde bullies, and aggressive brunettes are EVERYWHERE. And every time there’s a brawl, their clothes tend to disintegrate.

Distracted by all the bouncy brawlers, Takeru has a hard time concentrating on his training. Things get sticky when the hornball can’t figure out how to use his Maken. If he doesn’t find his mojo quick, he’ll be dumped by the school of his dreams-or destroyed by an attacker who’s after his magic power thingy!

Now, meet your English cast!

TAKERU – Ian Sinclair
HARUKO – Monica Rial

And now for a look at the English Dub Trailer!

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood takes #3 spot on Netflix TV Binge List posted their “Netflix TV Binge List: End of Summer Edition” where Fullmetal Alchemist took the #3 spot above ‘Parks and Recreation’ and ‘Fringe’. Congrats to the Elric brothers for hanging with the big boys. What would your list be?

3. ‘Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)/Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood’
How many of you will not watch anime because Pokemon, Naruto, or Yu-Gi-Oh left a bad aftertaste? Well, here is an anime I dare you not to get addicted to absolutely immediately. Fullmetal Alchemist follows brothers Edward and Alphonse as they search for the legendary philosohper’s stone to fix their torn bodies after a futile attempt to raise their mother from the dead. Along the way, these two brothers meet interesting characters and uncover an evil that does not just threaten their search for the stone, but the lives of an entire country.

This series has anything and everything you could want: great humor, legitimate horror, memorable characters, impressive action, and heartbreaking moments. Both series are amazing and have topnotch animation, but they do not follow the same plot all the way through. Watch the 2003 version first and then go back and watch Brotherhood. Ed’s hothead and Mustang’s flame alchemy will keep things burning. A word to the wise: the Law of Equivalent exchange does not just apply to alchemy. The cost of watching this series is your heart, and the philosopher’s stone can’t get it back for you.

Big summer contests kicking off this week!

We are in the heart of summer and the beginning of a large amount of new FUNimation titles hitting stores. With there being so many new releases in the pipeline, we have decided to create a mega event to promote them all. So we give you the…

How this event will work is that we will have one or two contests each week for upcoming releases before they hit stores. The prize for each contest will be a copy of the product it is promoting. After the event is over we will see which contest had the most entries. Everyone who entered the contest with the most entries will be entered to win the event grand prize – one copy of every product in the event!

For example:
You enter both contests for week one. They both get over 500 entries. You didn’t enter the first contest from week two (clearly you were detained by ninjas) and it gets over 600 entries. If you want to be included in the grand prize drawing you will need to enter another contest and hope that it get’s more than 600 entries.

Here is some other general information about the contest you should know:

*Winners will be chosen at random. There will be one winner per contest. Once you win a contest you can not win another one in this event. Do feel free to keep entering other contests if you do win so you can still have a shot at the grand prize. You will just not be eligible to win later contests.
*The details for each contest will be updated on this blog post the day each event starts. See below for contest schedule. The number of entries and contest winners will be added shortly after each one ends.
*You may enter every contest, but only once. All contests end at 11:59pm Central Time on their end date
*Contests are open to US and Canadian residents, excluding Quebec and Puerto Rico. Click here for official rules.

Our recommendation is to enter as many contests as you can and tell all your friends to as well to help ensure the largest number of entries.

Got all that? Great. Here is the contest schedule for the event. Good luck!

New Release Tuesday – Bring on the Ladies

We’ve got a doozy of a New Release Tuesday for you. A plethora of kick-ass sexy ladies, and a bit of magic and action thrown in for good measure. First up, fans can finally purchase Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine on BD/DVD Combo! The ultimate femme fatale, the series is absolutely stunning to watch. A must have for fans of the Lupin franchise.

She’s a thief. A killer. A saint and a scandal. She’s whatever you need her to be to get the job done. After sizing you up with one sinful glance, she disarms you with a touch. You’re powerless to resist. She’s walking seduction, with an insatiable itch for the priceless and a fetish for mischief. She takes your breath away to get what she wants. She takes everything else just because she can. It’s all in a night’s work for the woman called Fujiko Mine. She’s the slinky, sultry thread that holds Lupin III’s crew together – and this is the heist that started it all.

Speaking of kick-ass ladies, the major is back, except this is before she became the major. Ghost in the Shell: Arise is available today in a special Collector’s Edition box. This is something new for us here at FUNimation. This release contains an imported English-subtitled blu-ray disc, an imported O-card, and an imported film strip. It also comes with an English translated art-book (all seen in the above photo). Of course, our normal FUNimation dubbed released will be available later, but if you want this one of a kind Collector’s Edition you’ll have to act fast. We’ve got a VERY limited number of these for sale.

In the year 2027, a year following the end of the non-nuclear World War IV, a bomb has gone off in Newport City, killing a major arms dealer who may have ties with the mysterious 501 Organization. Public Security official Daisuke Aramaki hires full-body cyber prosthesis user and hacker extraordinaire, Motoko Kusanagi, to investigate. On the case with her are “Sleepless Eye” Batou, who believes Kusanagi is a criminal, Niihama Prefecture Detective Togusa who is investigating a series of prostitute murders he believes are related to the incident, and Lieutenant Colonel Kurtz of the 501 Organization who also wishes to keep an eye on Kusanagi.

hsdxd_boxAnd we’ve got even MORE kick-ass sexy ladies for you. High School DxD is now available on BD/DVD Combo. Join Issei on his quest to become the #HaremKing and get an eyeful of these super sexy devils.

A war between heaven and hell is raging on Earth – and a hot mess of hormonal fury is raging in Issei’s pants. The guy is dying to get some action. Which is funny, since his first date ever turns into a winged monster and tries to kill him. Fortunately, ridiculously curvy redhead Rias comes to his rescue. She’s president of The Occult Research Club, a club that doesn’t actually research the occult. They ARE the occult – and Rias is a Devil. Rias takes Issei as a more-than-willing slave and begins training him to use magic in battle against the Fallen Angels, the long-time enemies of Devils everywhere. If Issei can improve his mystical skills, he’ll be able to help his hotter-than-hell master and her scorching supernatural schoolgirl friends defeat their foes. Even better, he might end up with a few sexy slaves of his own.

We also have Fairy Tail Part 6 available on BD/DVD Combo and Legend of Legendary Heroes – The Complete Series on BD/DVD Combo.

So, which of these titles are you most interested in getting?

This zombie melodrama is Mu-Young’s film school opus. An eternal senior, he knows everything about cinema but nothing about actual film making. Critical of everyone else, he heckles the famous indie director Ik-June Yang at a campus screening and somehow receives film funding. His dream of working with his love-interest Ah-Young becomes a nightmare. Everything that can go wrong does. Barely surviving a disastrous shoot, Mu-Young learns making a movie is like love, you can’t do it alone. LET ME OUT is a tribute to guerrilla, indie, amateur, low-budget cineastes struggling to create. It is hope.
