Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread
Being new to Anime in general, I saw this one browsing through Netflix. 1 day later and 2 seasons down I have to say this series happens to be one of my favorites. I really do hope they do a season 3 I might prompt me into buying the DVD series. But I will wait until I get a BluRay DVD player so that I may enjoy the artwork as it was meant to be seen.
Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread
Don't hold your breath for a season 3.
As has been stated before, the series did not do so well in Japan. Sales haven't been that strong and that is what makes a new season possible.
I agree that there is a lot that was left unfinished. In particular there was mention several times of Chrisella Revi, but only two appearances that I am aware of. She was supposedly the main protagonist of the bombing and the theft of the Ryunka.
In the four part OVA, she is a very major character.
But anyway, the series dub was extremely well done.
Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread
Just finished watching seasons 1 & 2 on Netflix. Another great choice by Funimation to pick this up!
I have to agree that this series was extremely well done... The English voice dub crew was fantastic! I also thought there were several nice artistic touches during specific action sequences that set it apart from other anime. Great calls on music selection too!
Personally, I think that they have plenty of material to create another season or two. Masami Yuuki is still writing the sequel to the remake and could take the series any way he wants for as long as he wants... It's really up to him.
Until then, fans can email the production studio (A-1 Pictures) and try to convince them to make another series in the future!!! If they do, I'm sure Funimation would sign up to distribute it.
I have to wonder if production studios would be more apt to make additional seasons if they knew how much demand in foreign markets there was for a particular anime? Several posters have already pointed out that the anime wasn't received very well in Japan, but it seems to have done much better in other markets, particularly the U.S...
I know I didn't really start watching anime until I started watching Netflix, Hulu, Adult Swim, FUNi Channel etc. The more these sites grow in popularity and use, the more demand for anime will grow... An easy example are several of my friends who never watched anime before and now have added it to the genres they like to watch after seeing a few different animes on Hulu.
Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread
you know what was one of the things i thought funny, in season 1 episode 6, Both of Us, when nagasuki was reaching for the bird/Gardian in the recording she only had 4 fingers lol
Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread

Re: Birdy The Mighty General Series Discussion Thread
oh and lets not forget... if you watch the end on the last episode for Birdy the Mighty Part 1, they mention that there is a posibility for the anime to be continued when someone decides to make th next episode, called Birdy the Mighty: Decode - The Cipher. now i know that this anime hasent been around for two years, but i think that that time is long enough to continue the series.if people have been asking for Birdy to return for two years im most certainly positive that someone has decided to pick up where the creators of Birdy the Mighty had left off. so lets not feel down and see what turns out, mmk? :D
