Basilisk was an incredible series that managed to make you care for a lot of characters without them being around that long to get to know them well. The story is done very well along with the characters development. The biggest issue that I have this this series is that it is so sad. I cannot go back and watch this yet due to how depressing the entire story gets over time. I will say though that it is not trying to be overly depressing and manages to do it well but it is still a sad show to watch.

I agree with you canine. It was well done but pretty depressing. Great story here though, it's definitely worth a watch.

I could’t believe they ended like they did. I wish they would have done so much more.

Basilisk is one of my favorite series of all time!

It's the show that reintroduced me to anime (thanks to a friend).

It was also the first anime DVD I ever bought (Premium Box Set) and manga series too.

I'm sure some people have their complaints about certain things but I thought this anime was actually better than the manga in some ways.

- back-story for Ogen and Danjo was a great addition
- some fight scenes were better IMO
- epilogue (manga didn't have one)

I guess the only cons I can think of are:
- the recap episode wasn't really necessary, especially for a 24 episode series
- manga had more nudity

I think my favorite characters were Jubei and Okoi even though they were killed off pretty quick. I liked the series but the flashback sequence in the first episode really threw me off, but otherwise it was a good series. I like how the Iga and Koga clans have appeared in other series like Ranma 1/2.
