I have to admit I think I liked Durarara more. Baccano could be slightly confusing, though it does all make sense eventually. I guess I just preferred how Durarara developed over the course of the series and you really get a sense for all of the characters before the plot takes off too much. In Baccano, there were some characters you didn't really get to know until the last three episodes.
Baccano is definitely more entertaining though, which makes it endlessly re-watchable. And its dub is pretty amazing as well. From what I've heard of the Durarara dub, I think I'll be sticking to the Japanese when I eventually buy it.
I don't mean to be "that guy" and reply a month after the last post, but I totally agree with tenebrusmke79's "they're not comparable" statement. Though, I do have to admit I would watch Baccano! one more time than I would Durarara!!, because it introduced me to the vast universe of Ryohgo Narita and I just love the voice work in it (Tatum and Caitlin's Isaac and Miria are delightful). Also, Baccano! is kind of sentimental to me personally because it reminded me just how AWESOME anime is.
I do agree with madkid's "you don't get to know the characters that much" when comparing both series, though. Baccano! seems to just jump right into the middle of the story (which it kind of does, based on what I know of the light novel series) and only hints at relationships through flashbacks and such. Durarara!! starts right at the beginning of the series and it introduces the characters from there so they evolve with the plot.
TL;DR, I know. To sum that up: They're both great and everyone should totally watch them.
I haven't seen either yet, but [as] is picking up Durarara and it will air this month. Baccano is on netflix instant queue and that is gonna be one of the next anime series I'll watch. I've heard both are good. Can't wait.

the comparison doesnt make sense to me.
but I like Baccano better.
it suits more of my tastes then DRRR.
because Baccano isnt all happy happy joy joy. that makes it great.
As of Durarara it becomes like that in the end.
I like Baccano which made me come to like Durarara. One thing I like about Durarara more than Baccano is Durarara makes a little more sense at the beginning than Baccano did, but Durarara was kinda slow the first couple episodes whereas Baccano was killing people from the get-go which is major fun!
Saying I like one more than the other is like telling my 2 best friends who I like more.
I guess this thread will be alright since durarara is sort of in continuity with this show, just remember to keep things civil!
I like both series equally. However, there's really no competition to be had between the two series.
