@Renzo: I wish Penquindrum had a legal stream so I could watch it. (but hey maybe we will get lucky and someone will pick it up eventually) Also yeah Makoda & P&S are fun shows.
And I agree with almost 100% with your post. Even if it is just a repost, lol.
I already explained this to you at another "opinion outlet" ( ), but I will write it on here for referance sake.
I enjoy my shows if they are good, and if I feel like I've had an overall enjoyable experiance. I do admit I haven't seen that many of what you would call "old titles", but so far from what I've seen I don't think I can throw my opinion in either direction. Though I might see other shows later on down the line that would change what I think about this topic, as of now I have no preferance either way. I enjoy what I enjoy, is what I'm mainly saying.
The current state of anime in the U.S specifically is better than it was a couple of years ago thanks for G4, The CW, CN/AS, Nicktoons, Disney XD, and others airing anime on their networks, but sales still continue to suffer thanks to the idiots out there who find the need to steal. They truly aren't fans by any means and anime fandom is all the better without them.
I think those who are streaming legally are helping out the licensing companies thanks to them getting some kickback's due to the advertising, but it still isn't enough and we really need to start supporting with out wallets. From a TV standpoint I'm very happy though, sure, more stuff could be airing but we should be happy that we get what we get instead of complaining all the time. The fandom would be all the better then, as well.
I don't know, I'm tired.......nevermind me.......it's not like I'm doing my part or anything. *looks at 3 bookshelves filled with anime DVD's*
ITs great to want to support the industry as much as you can, but Preaching and accusing gets one nowhere (belive me I know, I learned the hard way too, lol.)
It definitely doesn't get you anywhere. I've learned it the hard way as well. In the end, even if you have done your research and know what you're talking about, the other person will get annoyed, and flat out think your statements are pretentious, and you have no clue what you're talking about.
Anyway, on a somewhat related note, how the industry is doing has affected the quality after all. This industry was much stronger many years ago, both in Japan and North America (2002/2003 is when things were at their peak here.).
I think I've said this before, but even though I haven't been part of the fandom as long as others, people tend to only remember the good that was produced and forget about the garbage. It's the reason you hear the same couple dozen songs on any oldies station.
In even five years time, we'll forgot about the Chu-Bras and Dragon Crises, and we'll have to have this same conversation all over again.

@EOP: True, by then there will be new garbage to take its place, lol.
@SSSrant: Yep legal streaming is a great way to help the industry if your younger, or just in a spot to where you can't afford to buy anime often. (be it due to finanical crisis or just money going towards other habits.)
Anywho I for one think the main reason anime's demogrpahic has changed (and this may just be me being silly &/or negative) Is that I fear the old fashioned nerd may be dying out. Back in the day anime was primarily aimed at your steryotypical nerdy guy, you know the guy who loved D&D, scifi, comics, giant robots, super sentai, awesome over the top action, as well as the occasional artsy philosophical &/or psychological type show. But over the decades that demo has grown older, and not been as promenant in the fanbase as of late it seems. Even if their are still young ones out there like myself. (well cept for the D&D part...never could get into that lol)
But how you switch your modus operandi from traditional geek to pervert is somthing I still don't quite get.
(And yes I know that last sentence sounds mean, and no i don't intend to turn this thread into another rant about ecchi content, I fully well know every living creature has some level of perversion in them, and I have afew pervy things I enjoy as well, but thats another talk for another time... point being is that's the easiest word to use when catagorizing the demo for a decent majority of modern anime, lol.)
But yeah, I guess I just get to negative at times, I guess in the end All I can do is chug along and hope to see more Tatami's and PenquinDrum's... and less Kanokan's and Qwasar's as the years go by, lol.
In even five years time, we'll forgot about the Chu-Bras and Dragon Crises, and we'll have to have this same conversation all over again.
I won't. I actually liked both, but they were mediocre, especially Chu-Bra!! which is one of my least favorite anime. It was barely not a waste of time. I highly doubt that will get licensed, and it will remain on Crunchyroll.

I was just agreeing with what Manga4life but the quoting system is still screwy.
I think anime in America if it really was a fad will return as a fads do. As long as there is Japan there will be anime. It will even survive Ishihara's anime ban.

Even if the anime industry collapses, I doubt that /a/, 2ch, pixiv or the Japanese doujin community are going anywhere.
Aside from gratuitous loli fanservice, I'd still say those were at least mediocre. I've seen worse.
