Well, it's quite popular, but I just hate it. It's Elfen Lied.
I understand how someone might think the show is good, but it's AWFUL to me. It's blatantly sexual and disgusting. I mean, do I really need to watch a naked girl behead a secretary and use her body as a shield from bullets? And not only that, but the Japanese AND English voice acting is bad. I pretty much gave up after a few episodes.
mine well let me think.........ah yes it was called rumbuling hearts ya it was like waching a cheap soap opera i only wached 3 eps it was so cheesey i hated it! i recommend this anime to NO ONE!
As for me, I'd still have to say Death Note. I don't know who had to get bribed for a series like that to end up in Shonen Jump....but I really could not get into it and I hate the supposed protagonist with a passion.
I don't want to diss or alter your opinion on Death Note, I just don't necessarily agree with it. Death Note is one of my all-time favorite animes and its protagonists has been hailed by many, (myself included) as one of the greatest anime villains of all time. So, I agree with all those who say that Light Yagami is evil. But I think he's one of the best, most facinating villains ever. And there's also L who makes the series a must-watch for plenty of anime fans.
But I don't see why it's in Shounen Jump either. Maybe it's so that it could have more attention.
@FB: Death Note is basically about how ultimate power ultimately corrupts, no matter the intention, your not supposed to like Light, your just supposed to understand that odds are in his position, eventually you'd do something similar with such power.
But back on topic, if you want something truly rank just go check out Love Hina Again, truly horrid that pointless follow-up show.
maybe not terrible but utterly confusing and wierd: FLCL
I tried to get into it, I know everyone says its great, but I watched the first episode 3 times, but still didn't feel motivated to watch it.
And anime with excessive fanservice I guess.
(random aside but like all 18+ yaoi/hentai anime have shit quality XD and is also mind corrupting )
@Serph FLCL doesn't have a point its about the visuals, its pure insanity in animated form, a lack of ability to enjoy it is a severe cause to worry as it means ones imagination is severely underfed. Hurry, get this man 10 CC's of sugar & madness STAT!
But yes I do agree whole heartedly on your other point, anime that have excessive fan service can be rather annoying at times, as for the other thing, Hentai is kind of its own little world, we try our best not to clump it together with the rest of the anime world, although that gets rather difficult these days XD.
As for mind corrupting though, all depends on the person and how decesitized you are to certain things. Violence & Sex are technically two sides of the same base coin, its just at least for most of us in the states, violence is a lot more acceptable then sexual content *which of course being a child of the 90's and seeing lots of 80's & 90's hyper-violence I am completely fine with that XD* But I do understand the hypocrisy of it, but then again, such a thing is part of human nature, and again I personally am fine with that, give me give me an animated shoot-out over an animated orgy any day. Although a little kid should probably stay away from both XD.
Uhh... I'm gonna have to disagree on this one. FLCL definitely has very strong recurring motifs and themes. At even a cursory glance, it's pretty obviously about adolescence and coming to terms with yourself as an individual, in some rudimentary way. FLCL just boils that down to jokes, rather than playing them for drama. Making fun of them, without ever mocking them. In this way, I think FLCL might actually be one of the most ambitious projects I've seen. FLCL may seem wacky and directionless, but it's actually rather clever, even if it isn't all that intelligent. Yes, a lot of FLCL is just there to be zany and screw with you, but assuming that means it doesn't have a very clear point is absolutely incorrect.

Isn't It Great To Different, Isn't It Great To Be Who You Are!? Once You Learn To Accept Yourself, You'll Become A Shining Star.
@Soundmonkey: and to couple that up with a horrid dub just like the TV series. Maybe that's why Funi doesn't have it yet
Locomotion
animation, young adults, digital era
School days? duh
Scamp even did his own review of Vampire Wars.
At one point I was interested in seeing Scamp's very first review. It was for something called "The Epic of Zecktbach."
