In my opinion the strongest anime character is Naruto; and he is about to get even stronger if you have been watching the subbed version of Shippuden. The things which I think make Naruto the strongest is the insane amount of beating he takes and he is still able to continue fighting, he does not give up and continues to fight for what he believes in. Also some of the things Naruto does while fighting an opponent is just sheer brilliance; his unpredictable nature makes him a deadly adversary. It would be difficult to compare Naruto to characters outside of the Naruto universe since each anime has things that are unique to the specific world created.
Not that Naruto is weak or anything, but do you really think he compares to a mech millions of lightyears in size that can withstand attacks as powerful as the big bang?

Well I think it depends on personal preference who you think is the strongest. In my opinion the bigger they are the harder they fall; I do not know who you are referring to but I am sure Naruto can find a way to beat him/her/it. Strength is not limited to brute force but a large part of what makes someone strong is the will to keep fighting no matter what the odds. To me Naruto is that kind of person he will continue fighting no matter who stands in his way because he just does not know how to give up.
Also I'm interested to know what anime you are referring to I would like to watch the character you are referring to and come up with my own conclusions about that character.

Naruto might like to keep going but he couldn't when he's completely and outclassed. Even a rasenshuriken would do nothing, it would be like attacking the sun with toothpicks.
I think you fail to grasp just how big millions of lightyears is.

I would say either Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta or Super Saiyan 4 Vegeto(if he did exist that is, and he would have been uberly more powerful than Gogeta.) Heck, Goku would be able to destroy a planet with a punch.

I like the debate on this subject but my point still stands, if you can find an opponent that can defeat Itachi Uchiha without
looking him in the eyes let me know so I can check out his/her awesomeness. One example is the time Naruto, Kikashi, and the
others came to attempt to fight him without looking and Naruto still got caught in a genjutsu by glancing at the ring on his
finger.

And then there are the characters without minds to trick, like Bartholomew Kuma from One Piece

I doubt Killer Bee could defeat Itachi in battle the way he struggled vs. an amature sasuke having to cut off one of his
tentacles after being hit by amaterasu. Itachi was so talented that madara uchiha didn't really bother with him. However
recently on bleach I watched Ichigo fight Aizen and I have to say Ichigo could be the strongest character.
