@Soundmonkey44: According to Tartakovsky, a reboot of Symbionic Titan may happen after Hotel Transylvania. Therefore, if ratings are good on Toonami, then it could be re-booted.

Durarara might've not done well, but hell, put it back on, in the poor slot it would be put in, not like it would matter. Didn't they also have Code Geass, they can put that back on, too. But come on, take it off and give the show a rest.

I would say D.Gray-man, but that also got picked up by another station, so that's good for that show.

[adult swim]'s broadcasting rights to Code Geass have expired and you don't know what the details for Durarara's broadcasting rights.

Plus shows that air on the FUNimation Channel have non-exclusive broadcast rights; so any show that airs on the FUNimation Channel, can air on other channels.

Eh, yeah, I do know about Durarara, it has been said that shows heavy in speech don't do well, even Death Note did poorly. But come on, Cowboy Bebop...it's run it's course and what do they do...they add it again to run for a full damn hour. They would've done better if they put Ben 10 in a slot. But adding 3 more hours where they play Ghost in the Shell, FMA, and Bebop two times in a row in that time slot...it's just poor. Surly they have other mature CN cartoons they can play. Samuari Jack? I don't know, just no more Bebop and Ghost Shell.

@vata: sure they got other toons they could play, but they know that (most) of the people want anime so more then an hour of Domestic action and certain sects would start whining even more then they already are.

Plus Bebop is a good show, sure its played to heck & back but meh oh well, but yeah again i'm sure GITS & Bebop will be replaced before too long.

Toonami wasn't just for anime. Anyone remember the old Thundercats? That wasn't anime, it was an western cartoon, the 201 series just happened ot be contracted by a Japanese studio.

Samurai Jack, Teen Titans, Justice Leaguge, Megas XLR, Jonny Quest, Beast Wars, Superfriends, ReBoot, Powerpuff Girls, Batman, Superman, He-Man, Jackie Chan Adventures, Ben 10

Those were all western cartoons that played on Toonami.

Re: Toonami General Discussion Thread

I dunno. Going back to that DeMarco open interview in August, it was pretty obvious they like getting their share of GiTS and Bebop. If things keep looking good for the new shows, I could see them being periodically replaced in the future, but I'd honestly be surprised if we went too long without at least one of them.

As far as what to replace them with, I'd like to see Durarara!! or Big O make a return at some point, as I never saw the former when it aired and I know the latter is pretty special. What's the deal with their recent acquisitions (DMW, Casshern, Eureka, etc.)? I know nothing about TV, sadly, but if we're re-running stuff anyway, might as well bring back the shows that do well rather than continuously ramming more GiTS and Bebop (maybe that's just my take). But I'm not in any hurry, and the new shows are looking great, hopefully all goes well.

So when does Durarara's broadcasting rights expire or has it expired?

@vata: You need to backtrack before you post, everyone here knows that, I said that exact same thing a page ago. I was merely stating theres (sadly) sects of Toonami fans that are requesting the block be only anime. You don't need to tell us what we already know and what I & others have pointed out to newer/younger fans MULTIPLE TIMES.

@JLA: Dunno.

Seeing as they said "we'll think about putting it back on", yes, they still have the rights to air. And seeing as it only aired once though, airing right last for more than a year.

@DBZfan

Well you will never see Cat Planet Cuties on Toonami unless you want to see light beams make their way to American tv. Or digital bikinis like they did with Tenchi.

Tiger and Bunny and One Piece are on Viz's Neon Alley. But it's not out of the question.

The mere fact that it was expanded tells me they are looking for ways to make it work. I still think it has a better chance if started earlier, but hey one step at a time. Even the original Toonami was built in one, two or even three years.
