When Kirito froze up, and HeathCliff defeated him, I got the impression that the game master had interfered in that moment. I don't know why, maybe he was keeping an eye on Kirito since he got the farthest in the beta test or something. Also if anyone remembers that member of the laughing coffin guild had been watching kuradeel or whatever his name, is duel Kirito. It makes me think that another member of asuna's guild is a part of the laughing coffin guild.
When the game master appeared in the first ep, the sky and everything else went red just like in the fight so that idea makes sense. What doesn't though is why he would be so interested in Kirito as to go that far. However, it does add a little bit more leniancy to batou01's theory that Heathcliff could be the game master in disguise. Plus, if he does want to keep an eye on Kirito, losing wouldn't have been an option for him.
@Reapersbeast: I didn't say that Heathcliff cheating was out of the question, just that I would give him the benefit of the doubt. I'm not really sure what to think about it. In my opinion, it's still about 50-50 on either cheat or skill. I see your point though that he shouldn't have been able to keep up with Kirito's speed as well as he was. I can understand blocking most of his attacks but going blow for blow doesn't seem right. On the one-hit-win though, I thought it was. It was the bottom choice and that's what Kirito selected. Maybe when Kirito hit his face I blinked and missed it but I'm pretty sure that Heathcliff dodged. I'll go back and watch it just to make sure.
@Dragon0: I don't think they would be foolish enough to make the next ep all about Kirito and Asuna's relationship. Quite a few people were pissed about that ep just on this forum. Unless you know the exact ratings in Japan, there's no real way to tell. I'm just saying that I;m sure they've considered that being a bad idea, hopefully.

@Reapersbeast: I was wrong. Kirito did strike Heathcliff in the face. And Kirito did lose as soon as his health hit the yellow zone. Also, when Kirito was about to strike him again, his sword stopped completely, then a few seconds later, Heathcliff started moving his shield so it couldn't have been sheer speed. I'm definitely starting to agree with the idea of him cheating.
On a quick side note, their fight lasted 1:37. It says it when it shows the winner pop-up. There was too much build-up for that fight for it to have ended so quickly. Lame.
One last thing, how is it that Kurageel even brought Kirito's health so low that easily? Back when he was helping Silica(the beast tamer) and they were attacked, he said he had a batlle-healing skill that restored his health by 600 points every 10 seconds. Even though he was paralyzed, that shouldn't have stopped the skill from activating. And considering that he was so much stronger than Kurageel when they dueled, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. I can understand how once he leaves the sword in Kirito it might have negated that ability, but he only strikes Kirito 3 times and each time, the initial strike took out close to 1/4 of his health. What the hell?

Oh don't get me wrong. I don't thinkthey'd make it all one ep either. But sadly as we have seen in the past with many a show, They do odd ball things. And while most of the show has been a "high impact" show for the most part. Or at least having a decent amount of action be it the fighting or mystery solving. They have balenced out the low key side pretty nicly thus far. But again you never know what they might do. Just another wait and see moment. Sucks for me caus I won't be able to see it till sunday since I'll be working by the time it airs.
Now while I lover a good debate, I think th ematter of the Duel needs to end. Seriously we don't know exactly what happened. We can all make our assumptions and guess, call each other liers and what not. but c'mon. For now I suggest we let it go. untill they refrence that again, possiably even in th enext ep, who knows, we won't know what actually occured during that duel. So for now I would suggest just leaving it since it appears to be getting a tad bit heated. Remeber lets keep it civil.
Spoken like a true gentleman Dragon0. @Forlorn Believer: Kuradeel was more powerful than those thugs from the other pk guild, so it would make sense for him to be able to inflict enough damage necessary to nearly kill Kirito. If he wasn't, he would have never been assigned as a bodyguard to Asuna. Also my theory of the battle between Kirito and HeathCliff came from the fact that there was a reddish background when he was in the middle of fighting, and Kirito froze up just long enough to be defeated. It looked like a glitch in the game caused by some sort of outside interference. But the game master interfering then and there does seem like a stretch so I'll leave it at that.

I still think the brain burst explanation fits best for the time freeze. We know the two shows are related, and that the nuerolink from Accel World is the third version of the nerve gear used by the players in SAO (also the simple fact that both stories are written by the same author helps.)

Definetly Batou. It doubtfully would be called the same, thought not completely out of the question, IT seems like its a high possibility. But we won't know for sure till they eventaully get to that point of explination.

Also since he had paralized Kirito it made all the easier to lower his HP. Even if he was nowhere close to kiroto's Lv, once he had handicaped Kirito it made it all to easy. But really like I said before I figured he'd want to torture kirito for his himuliation. Saver his vengence.
You'll have to watch Accel world to know. But the idea of the Nerve Gear, th edevice that takes them into the world of SAO, is shown at one point in Accel world a a 1st generation device they use in the show to connect to a globle net and some to another system called Accel World. It'll be easier fro you to understand once you see it. If you wnat to under stand this theroy anyway. Other wise just sit back and enjoy the show as it comes to us.
IMO, just saying "what would I do if I lost you" and sharing 1 meal and a couple short encounters, dating all the way back to the second episode, Isn't "building a relationship", building a friendship yes!! Now If they had them spend the day together in a "loving" not just casual way, then I could see Marriage feelings coming into play!! But again I think the Assassination attempt and the relationship should have all been done a little later! Anyways I think we can all agree they just really screwed episode 10 up, lol!! No I dont want them to have an episode of all lovey dovey shit now though its too late for that they already want to get married so I agree I don't want this next episode to be lame relationship stuff, Unless maybe its very quick 5 mins at the start. IMO they already screwed up the relationship part of the story. So I just hope they get back to the front line action soon!!!
@Forlorn:
I can see how Heathcliff could have something to do with the game creator because of the red, and being able to cheat, then just disappearing for the rest of the episode, but to be honest, I think that would be stupid!!! The game's creator said he "already accomplished his goals of creating his own world, and intervening in it, and now its complete"! Besides he looks nothing like the game creator and most people wouldn't know what he looks like anyways so why would he hide it. Maybe Heathcliff could have been put in by the creator though who knows(unless you cheated yourself and already read the manga lol!). As for the one hit your right he did pick the bottom option which would have been one hit, But again I think that might have been another example of bad translation or poorly designed animation for that scene! Sadly that happens all too often in anime ! Like that fact that Kirito pointed out to Klein in the first episode their not supposed to feel pain in the game yet 2 years later of not feeling pain people even Kirito still scream in pain when their stabbed or cut lol! But whatever lol. And as for how fast Kirito's hp dropped again I think thats just bad execution of a good ideal, when it comes to the animation! The were probably trying to squeeze too much in and had to cut the torcher short! And I agree that's wrong, poorly executed, and more proof they needed to give all 3 of those situations, in episode 10, their own episode!
@Everyone:
I think its funny how people were saying Kirito acted like he was all invincible and could never lose, Even though he never once acted like that but thats exactly how Heathcliff acted to start their duel! Again more proof he knew he wouldn't lose, because he knew if worse came to worse he would just cheat and win, Like he did! And by the way If you think Heathcliff is the game's creator then you know damn good and well he cheated in the duel with Kirito so why would you try to agrue anything differently! I guess some kids just like to argue .
Just because 2 stories are written by the same guy Doesn't mean they are linked! To be honest it just seems like the guy had a good ideal to write about so he used a bit of it in both his stories! Thats actually what most writers do! The 2 shows arent actually linked at all they just both happen to use Virtual reality gear!!

Sorry, but I'm not sure if I follow what you guys are talking about with the nerve gear, and its relation to a show called accel world.
