So close to episode 10 and yet so far. This damned anticipation is killing me. "Bangs head against wall" That didn't help at all. Lol. Besides the anticipation is the worry that the episode might not be as good as I'm hoping. Granted, while that doesn't seem very likely, the fear is still there. Just over 2 hours left......

OMG not happy Kirito lost. That guild color just doesn't work on him. Even worse they blew through the fight and mad eit sem like it was basicly no contest. BS I think. Yeah Kirito almost won but the captain just had to have what appearedd to be yet another secret skill. But the events after were interesting. Naturally we see our Kirito near death again and Our girl Asuna steps in to save the day.. for the most part. And now we get a bit of FS again. Not needed but if did show off Azunas embaressed side which was funny. And now they are gunna move ot a new home together and marry... well I think that could have waited a bit longer but what can you do.
I might add that watching ep 10 was the first thing I did after work. lol
DONT READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN EPISODE 10 YET!!!
OMFG why do they always have to screw with every great storyline??? Every damn anime out there does this shit! If its not with fillers, that last 30 episodes, its breaks into whats making the story good to show pointless or untimely moments in time! This anime is about a lone swordsman in a group based game and sure eventually he'll have to join someone Hopefully Asuna and a small elite group of Friends! But to make him lose the duel and by what seems to be Heathcliff cheating is beyond reason!! Why I think he probably cheated is because he's using a Huge heavy shield yet he was faster then Kirito, and that shit makes NO SENSE, and that last move where Kirito had him and somehow froze in place or Heathcliff moved even faster to be able to block him was a plain cheat of some kind!! They even made a point of stopping kirito having him say "What?" and then Heathcliff and his big ass shield was just instantly out of the way and striking Kirito, what a joke!! It almost makes me think Heathcliff will be a bad guy, and was setting Kirito up for the laughing coffin guy!!
So he's forced to join the guild, Then an episode that should have been 15 to 20mins of a duel between 2 of the best players in the game became about that loser that was stalking Asuna as her bodyguard, being a pathetic sneaky criminal, Then ends with Asuna saving Kirito(see she is strong especially when SHE needs to be!) and Kirito asking her to marry him! Why the hell would you cram so much of the story into this one episode????? The manga and info I can find says there's 25/26 episodes so they have plenty of time left to do this stuff! I just can't understand why anime creators suck so bad at story telling! It's got to be an Asian thing(no offense of course!!). Their culture or beliefs or whatever makes that the right way to tell the story I guess since they all seem to do it, but man I just can't understand it! Don't get me wrong we all knew this kind of stuff was going to happen but all in one episode and Now not later???? Just wow!! Seriously they better turn this story back around soon! I don't want to watch them waste the next 5 to 10 episodes on lvl 22 playing house!!!!! It's obvious this is still a great anime and to watch just that episode by itself its a good episode but I hate how much they crammed into it. Especially what it has now done to the storyline!! They show a great boss fight, then hype it up to make us believe a great duel was coming, Hell they even put the duel in an arena where they sold tickets! YET the duel lasted about 2 mins WTF is that crap????
The episode by itself was a good episode but I think overall it hurt the storyline!! I guess all week long I'll have a bitter taste left over from that episode until we find out Exactly how much they'll change it all again next week .
Yeah I feel the same The show seems to have come to a grinding halt all of a sudden. I got a feeling the next ep is gunna be a slow ep. Nothing wrong with them marring but I would rather this have waited a bit longer.
I can't say if Heathcliff cheated. But yeah it was defiently somethin fishy there. A seacet skill? Some kind of Cheat? IDK but yeah this fight they had built up was just a fail. Only a couple mins longs. A quick end. Hell even Kirito went in with a diffrent attitude than any other fight. Even when he took on th eGLeam Eyes BY HIMSELF. It was like he knew he'd loose. Or maybe he was douibting himself and thinking like he mentioned and it was just time to join a guild. Whitch would be fin but he need to join a diffrent guild. Like the elite one we mentioned. Hopefully ep 11 pick up a bit and isn't a slow ep the whole way through. I dont want to have to wait for this show to get back to its awsomeness. This story was much better when kirito was a solo. The joining th eguld was very misplaced. Maybe at ep 12 would have been better or even ep 15-ish. And have him finish out in a guild at the end.
But yeah kinda bitter tast. It just feel off right now. Lets just hope and see if they turn it back around after this.
Finally watched episode 9. That boss fight was really cool. Definitely want to see more stuff like that, hopefully with more teamwork next time between Asuna and Kirito.
And about the controversy I've seen spring up on a couple different forums, I honestly think that it's an overreaction. Asuna was upset/scared Kirito nearly killed himself. I would've been too had I been in her place. Asuna didn't really help in the fight despite being a supposedly strong warrior. I can see that one, for sure, but it's not like the others were able to do much, and Kirito nearly died taking the boss out even while using a unique and powerful skill. The whole deal at the end with Heathcliff can sound like Asuna is merely a prize to be won, but I think Heathcliff was simply just trying to force Kirito, a known wielder of a unique skill and a powerful fighter even without it, to join his guild. There are still problems, though, with these things and some earlier bits in the series, so I'm not saying it's guilt-free when it comes to these accusations.
Looking forward to watching episode 10 in hopes that things keep getting better. I've found myself enjoying SAO more and more these past couple of weeks after disliking some of the side story episodes.

I honestly don't see what was wrong with the outcome of the duel. Hell, having Kirito lose was the best thing that could have happened if ya ask me. To many shows have your protagonist getting into situations like this and coming out on top even though their opponent is supposed to be just as good or better. We already had that happen with boss last episode, I don't think we needed it happening again this episode. Plus, if you remember correctly, Asuna mentioned Heathcliff had a unique ability of his own that increases his attack and defense, which for all we know improves his speed and reaction time as well. To what levels? We don't know, but clearly enough to move his shield in time to deflect Kirito's attack. Just because Kirito has some unique ability, it doesn't make him invincible and I'm glad they proved that here.
What really matters is how they handle the next episode with how 10 ended. As far as I'm concerned, Heathcliff won the duel meaning they can't go off to do whatever they want whenever they want, they're gunna need permission. Ya, fine, get yourselves married, but right after that you get your butts back to the guild and do what your supposed to. I like my slice of life, but I don't need that with this show right now. Give me some more floor progression or something already where we actually see them accomplishing something worthwhile.
I actually wouldn't have minded too much seeing Kirito lose "IF" they would have done it right!! We know he has to join a guild sometime! And Heathcliff obviously had a unique skill that Kirito even knew about since he seen him use it on the front lines and him and Asuna discussed it before the fight. Well he was using it the whole fight which Kirito was even commenting on during the fight. But Then as Kirito had it won he seemed to "cheat" or "something" that made him not only out maneuver a Solo player who's been fighting multiple mobs for at least 80 lvls now(which HAS to make his speed and agility better then or at the very least as good as Anyone!) but he's also the stories Hero!! So Unless someone cheats or does something sneaky they Shouldn't be able to beat him!! Unless they are like Asuna and possible going to be a main star because their skills is so great then maybe! But this is really the first we've heard of Heathcliff! So yeah it would have been ok to let Heathcliff win "IF" they would have at least made it a good long battle and Heathcliff barely get a good move in to win and Earn Kirito's and Our respect! Then they don't even show Heathcliff for the rest of the episode, WTF is that?? It moves right into that damn stalker being a sneaky pathetic fool, and Still doesn't show Heathcliff after that! Instead it shows them spending the night together! I mean really it was a poorly produced episode when it comes to the storyline! But yes all we can really do is see how they handle it next week! I swear I will really be dissapointed if they just up and move back to lvl 22 and start "playing house"!! Then again I will be dissapointed if Heathcliff now thinks he owns Kirito as well as Asuna and starts acting all bad ass(Especially if he did cheat!!)! I seriously think hes going to turn into a bad guy! At least he better that can really be the only way to explain his win, IMO. If they ever do explain it!
@Dragon0:
Yeah it really does seem like the whole show just came to a grinding halt. I really don't want to see it get all slow and lovey dovey now! Without front line action there really isn't a show! I would like to see them marry since they already had a side episode on how important that is in the game. It's fine and only makes sense for them too, But to stop the action mid way through to go "play house" is Really Bad writing!!! And saying crap like we're tired from pressing the front lines Isn't a good excuse! They Are the front lines!!! Don't p*ssy out now!! Just saying!
@Firefly:
You really need to find a new site to watch the show on lol. I feel like we're gonna ruin it for ya by talking about it as it happens when your behind!!
Well if you subsribe to Cr you can see the latest ep the day it airs. Other wise you have t wait a week. Or you'll have ot use a fan sub site.

While I would have preffered Kirito to win. Yeah having him lose would have been all that bad. They both had a unique skill. Kirito and his dual baldes and Heathcliff with his sacred blade ability I think they called it. What bothers me most is that they blew through the fight. Yeah yeah I know Kirito isn't necessarily the stronegst person out there, thre was bound to be someone stronger, but I feel they just did the fight wrong. At the end of th efight Heath cliff appeared to have some other kind of other ability I think that slowed Kirito down for an instent. Then as he walk away he give a look to kirito that to me suggest it was a no contest fight and like he had something else planne dthan just gettin kirito in the guild. They should have drawn out this ep. Lead up to him going on a traing quest with Kuradeel and then in the next ep lead off into Kiriot almost dying AGAIN mind you. So no we already know he isnt' invinsiable. that fact the last boss nearly killed him proved that along with this last ep. But then they could have ending off withthe marriage proposal that would leasd to a new ep. I feel they just tried to put tooo much in this ep. They were progressign fin but this ep had too much in it and I just feel they had Kirito loose in the wrong manner.
As was mentioned in ANN forums (can't claim noticing the little things myself) The reasoning behind how Heathcliff won is probably purposeful, and I think if so it's pretty cool that they tied it in. Both SOA and Accel world are based of light novels written by Reki Kawahara. For those of you that keep up with Accel World, In the latest episode, Haru did some research to try to figure out how Nomi was accessing their fights without appearing on the fight list. Spoiler for recent Accel World:
Spoiler: Highlight to view
He looked at the history of the neurolinker and found that the previous incarnation was an implant chip but that it was made illegal after 3 years for misuse.
But as to how that relates to this, in the article he was reading the first version of the neurolinker was called the "nervegear" helmet. i.e. what they are using in SAO. therefore it stands to reason that Heathcliff must have gotten the type of ability that Nomi uses (and as Taku did in the earlier episodes) in Accel world and that the whole "Brain Burst" might be an offshoot from this. I think the whole reasoning behind this episode was to
Spoiler: Highlight to view
create this link and also establish Heathcliff's "hidden" ability. It was a foregone conclusion that Kirito would lose and was going to be in the guild. So The fight wasn't really the important part, but the ability, and then the whole thing with whatever his name was that kirito ended up killing in order to solidify the connection between him and Asuna.
I'm wishing I had kept watching Accel World now, I had no idea that these two shows would have some tie ins with each other. Now, with Accel World, was this ability this character used considered an actual ability or a cheat? Judging by what Kirito said about the creator of the game, whose name I completely forget right now, back when they were involved with the supposed murders in town, he wouldn't allow someone to bend the rules. I never thought that what Heathcliff was doing could be considered cheating, not to mention that in order to modify a game you're going to need access to the files which shouldn't even be possible with them stuck in game.
