I have to say, awesome fight! He had a fighting chance of making it until those archers spawned. Considering the size of the army and room, there was no way to make it past them. The knights though were pretty sweet. I love the design for those swords. I've never even considered drawing one where not every piece was physically connected. I like to draw(mostly weapons since I'm not that great) and that's given me a new way of thinking. Not going to take ideas. Can't stand people who do that. Maybe get some inspiration from another design but don't copy it. Off topic. Anyway, Kirito was epic in that fight. He definitely is capable of some amazing things, even by a game's rules. He mentions to himself how he's limited by the game's rules and statuses but that's only partially true. I seriously doubt any other player or even admin had thought up being able to punch an enemy so hard you impale it's freaking head with your fist! The game may have limits but that doesn't mean something outside the programming or not written in it is completely impossible. I guarantee that statement will cause some kind of problem with somebody, big or small, but I don't care. It's true. Ex: Halo 2-You really think that those bulls*** "super jumps" were programmed in there? They were glitches yes, but they weren't written into the programming. That example will probably be used against me somehow but whatever.
The parts after the fight, for me at least, were heartwrenching. I don't really know what I can say about them so I'll just put out down whatever comes to mind. Think about it how you will. Admittibly, it is surprising that Leafa didn't recognize Kirito from the start. He looks nearly identical to his avatar. And his name too. Kirito- Kirigaya(or was it Kiragaya?) Kazuto. It shouldn't be hard to see that he took the first part of his last name and first name. I like how it's done with that and I know that the writer made it play out like this but anybody with reasonable deductive skills should have been able to come to that conclusion, even if they simply considered it an option. I wish I could say I know how Sugu feels. I can empathize with her but I've never been in a situation like that. And you all know this is true: when somebody tells you they know how you feel, you think to yourself that they're full of s***. They don't know, at least most don't. Maybe if you're lucky that person may actually understand but at least 98% of the time, we aren't that lucky. Close to 98% of the time, I have no luck whatsoever with anythng I do. I admit this actually got a little dark but like I said, just putting down what comes to mind. Literally speaking my mind I guess. Lol.
At any rate, back to the ep. Sorry. I agree with Dragon that seeing what's next will be interesting but not with the "make-up" session part. That's a little heartless in my opinion but maybe I'm taking the ep a little too personally. I tend to do that a lot but that's just me. I understand if some people think it's weird or crazy. I went off topic again. I apologize. Perhaps though, while Kirito and Leafa come to terms with how they feel, those two groups who formed an alliance will have finished their preparations. The leader of the cat-like group did say that with Kirito's contribution, they were nearly ready. I can't say I'm too excited about the next ep. There are some obvious reasons for that but, honestly, the main one is because it's so close to being over. Hopefully it will be continued past this. It has the popularity, batou was kind enough to give us the other arcs(plenty of source material) and as far as I know, the manga isn't even over. I don't read the manga anyway. That doesn't guarantee anything though. But if they don't something's seriously screwed up with their minds! You can't deny that. I do believe that is all I can think of to say for now. One last thing actually. Damn you Aniplex!!!!

when Leafa said ".....brother?" I almost died. How stupid i thought that she would say that. I thought she would just want to escape upon learning it was Asuna that Kirito was going after. And deal with it as sugo. But there is a time limit here so it had to be rushed into one episode. It was intense and sad. but that being said, Kirito knows there is a time limit to find Asuna and an apparent quest (s) to conquer with doing so. He has nno time to waste dealing with Sugo's hearbreak at this time. In what is it two days Oberon /? is going to marry Asuna. He knows now she is at the top of the world tree and any minute is wasting precious time. the battle was awesome but i was thiking when Leafa came in he should have taken her sword or was he already "dead". ? And how did Leafa make it outside the gate if she had bee killed inside. Wouldn't you have to re-start from the beginning? Answers please and thanks in advance.

I don't mean to make up completely and everything be back to how it was and all. Call it more a compromise to working together again. I'm sure Sugu is still gunna be troubled by these last few event.
The scource material for th eseries don't forget is the novels. The manga and anime came from that. lol. And I completly agree with the fight at the begining. Was definetly one of their best ones so far. Though the solo fight with Gleam eyes is still pretty cool though. But thats just me. lol

Leafa didn't die. Kirito did. Even with his skills and as great a fight he put up the archers got the best of him, and then the knights finished him with their sword impaling him. Leafa jumped in to get his Marker*?* I guess you'd call it, and rushed out. She did take alot of damage but didn't die.
It feels like we're rushing towards a plot wall here at breakneck speed. It's extremely exciting, but also terrifying to me. We have, what, three or four episodes left in this arc? If this one ends on a cliffhanger...
If it endss on a cliff hanger we can only hope that means they have more seasons planned. But yeah. With only 3 eps left ther eis a good chance this ending will be rushed.

You lost me at novels. I know about the manga for it but what novels? And yes, the fight with Gleam-Eyes was indeed awesome. If only they had all been that good, for the first arc I mean. This one has had nothing but good fights. At least I think so.

I don't think outnumbering him 100-1 when you all have bows against his sword is really "getting the best of him." I'm curious though about the archers showing up. Could it be default once the players reach a certain height or is it because Kirito killed so many of the knights? If it's because of the knights' defeat, then you could actually just use speed to blaze past them but if it's default(which is more likely), then a larger force would be much more helpful.
@Graedan: Look on the bright side: if it does end on a cliffhanger, we're forced to wait and be patient but it guarantees more episodes.

SAO is based off of a group of light novels written by Reki Kawahara. He began writing the story in 2002 and submitted it for some contest, but it was too long and then it was added to, edited, and then released in light novel format starting in 2009. There are 10 novels so far and another is supposed to be released in December. The manga is an adaptation of the light novels, and started coming out about a year and a half after the first novel was published. The anime then came next.

Again this will come off what I can remember s osorry if this is off a bit. But I beleive that when Kirito and Leafa were talking about taking on the tower they had said something about how no 1 player has been able to beat it. Kirito thought that maybe it would requier a group. But I though leafa said something about only 1 memebr at a time could pass or something. So maybe this senario we see with the endless knights that appear could be why nobody alone has beaten the tower. It could be as kirito said it would take a group. This is all my guess though from what little info I can recall.

I'm pretty sure Kirito didn't say any of that. Leafa told him not even some group managed to get past the guardians so he wouldn't stand a chance alone but he told her he had to try anyway. Well, at least something along those lines. And I don't know where the "only one person could pass through" part came from. That may be from something else but what I have no clue.

Its its a fragmented memory. Its something again I'd have to go back and rewatch. Pretty sure I remember them saying something though about how only 1 member could pass at a time and thats why you didn't see groups try to get up the tower. Either way.
Spoilers for ep 22
