I don't know Batou. I mean when we watched from Kiritos view he clearly got the " You Have Died" signal in his vision. I'm thinkin ghtis is a plot whole of somekind to keep the story going.

it talks about Asunas new charcter game form in the new arch so apparently she doens't die either,.
I'm curious to see if they dont' include some of the other Character like Liz, Silica, Klein and the other guy's who name escapes me ATM. The merchend weapons dealer guy that helps kirito, and see if they are brough into this game too.
No I don't mean he didn't die in the game, he did. But because he won the game by beating Kayaba it did not have the usual result that it would have had.

If you are confused as to why I think he survived I guess it would be easier to explain it a different way. The main rule (as it would end the game) in SAO was that if the final boss (Kayaba) was defeated, it would end the game. A sub-rule of the main rule was that if you died before that happened you'd die. At the end of the game, the person who defeated the boss and all of the surviving players would be released. Kirito died in the game...so by the sub-rule he should die, but since he defeated Kayaba (we won't talk about the coming back for the final blow because that just seems tossed in for additional drama) this would violate the main rule so he was released. In computer programming this is called operator precedence and basically gives the order of operations and also prevents violations where a less important rule could overrule a more important one.
For those who were hoping for a US release of SAO, Aniplex USA announced today they are releasing it.

I think that since she jump in and defended Kirito during that fight, the program that runs in the background controlling everything would have placed her as a participant in the fight. So even though she died in the game, the signal wouldn't be sent to her nerve gear until the outcome of Kirito and Kayaba had been reached. Anything that was true of Kirito was true for her so you could almost think of it as her being in a buffer until the outcome was decided. That buffer is sort of what I look at the part at the end where they spoke with Kayaba and watched SAO fall apart from the outside. It was kind of like the construct in The Matrix.
To bad that licence doesn't say what kind of release it will be. Hopefuly a dub or at least provide both a dvd and Bd set.

It will probably not be like the Fate/zero or Kara no Kyoukai sets, since Japan is getting singles without English subtitles. Will probably be similar to Drrr!'s release.
If they don't dub it, they probably won't get as many sales as it would have otherwise. Hardly anyone buys sub-only releases. I don't mind it so long as it's a good anime but I prefer dubs.

Aniplex USA licensing Sword Art Online, this is the worst licensing news ever. Unless I can buy it for about $120 with an english dub.
I am not sure if I want to keep watching more episodes of Sword Art Online, This news totally ruined my weekend.
