Well its not like he was able to have access to a terminal anytime he wanted. Only that roon had one that yui had opened. And he only had a few mins to do anytin with it. He got lucky he was able to retreive her origianl data and made an item out of it. Besides I have a feeling hacking the network of SAO would take him a while. I suspect he's really good with computer stuff but knowing how they set diffrent things up, he wouldn't just be able to walts right into the network without any problems.
Yeah you're right, he was sent flying across the room just for making YUI into an item. YUI sounds like she has a very depressing existence. But my theory about the game master might be valid after considering that she was prevented from doing what she was programmed to do for a while until she was able to seize an opportunity to escape.
Becasue she was detained from doing what she was programed todo yeah. Her existence was pretty depressing. Having to watch the players fall into chaos and not be able to help like she was programed todo was most likely torchuring her. But because of the erros she accumulated however she was able to gain a sence of self though, and able to escape for a time. She seemed satisfied with the outcome.
I'm sure there's more of a reason they made the item of her then just sentimentality. I'm betting her character will show back up somehow in the second half of the show. As for the terminal by her killing the scythe monster it allowed them access to the Terminal and since she started it up it was open with more or less admin privileges. This is the only reason he was able to do something like that. He saw the files open (but deleting) so since the access was still there he took advantage of it and made the copy. Sure they over dramatized it with the typing like the androids in Ghost in the Shell whose fingers split apart and they type in a blur, but he basically just copied and pasted a file into his items. Also, SAO is planned as two-cour and not split-cour right?
True. And since she was being deleted, that only gave what was probably a very short time to even try and copy her file before the admin access port closed off.
I have to admit I'm not really enjoying where the story is heading. Or at least with the way the flow of the episodes seemed to have changed. I still enjoy the show and if you watch the last 3 episodes and look at them individually their not really bad but I don't like the way the writer seems to be trying to do Too much at once! They just seem too crammed!! And he's branching off of the main storyline way too much!! Yui's character doesn't even belong IMO! Especially since she contradicts her self without giving us any real reason as to why(she said she was created to cheer people up, obviously by the creator but then he won't let her do it??? Why??) Again this goes back to the games creator "ruining" a good storyline with unnecessary distractions! Another words why even create an AI if your not going to let it do its job??? And she says she used the terminal to delete that monster, but it looked like a big ass flaming sword to me lol Just saying!
POSSIBLE SPOILER
The writers just trying too much in too short of a time!! If he could draw out their lives a little more, like say they had 50+ episodes. Then this could have stayed an amazing anime! He could have truly invested in these characters. But being so short it's just going to end up a pretty good anime( I hope anyway!). Even if Heathcliff does turn out to be the game's creator and then probably the last boss of the game(kinda has to be, with the way this game is turning into his ego trip as a main story line now, which sucks!!) And he and Kirito have an epic battle, that leaves Asuna doing nothing in the end which would be stupid(Unless she's trapped by Heathcliff somehow and Kirito has to rescue her but still that would take too much time to do Right!)! And Obviously the creator can manipulate the game(again!) so even though Kirito's a bad ass, its impossible to beat that! Which is probably going to ruin the end of at least this half of the show !!! But I'll keep watching an hoping for the best!!!

Presumably if the writer had any idea of programing (and I assume he did although I've read that he might have been in his teens when he wrote SAO) he knows that there is no way possible that one person could have written the code for the game. So Yui was written as part of the game by the development team with the full intention of her (or it...what is the correct pronoun for an AI?) acting as basically an in game psychiatrist. Having something like her would take away from the guy who locked everyone in's (can't remember his name) enjoyment of seeing how they all react to the situation they are placed in though, and that is the reason I assume she was prevented from helping anyone.

If Kirito could hack the game, why didn't he just do that in the first place?
Kirito didn't hack the game. He simply accessed an in-game terminal already activated by Yui and turned her data into an item before she could be deleted.

Yui told them that SAO isn't being controlled by Kayaba(game's creator). It's being controlled by Cardinal, a computer system. It decided not to let her do her job, not him. Unless you know why it does what it does, how can you say that it's ruining the story? Have you even considered that maybe they have plans to make Cardinal one of the main antagonists? Taking an idea from Terminator, what if Cardinal gained self-awareness and is doing whatever it damn well pleases. Granted, there are multiple counter-points that can arrise from that statement, I'm just making a point. Also, the giant sword could have been like an "eraser". Would it have been more interesting to have the monster just vanish or to have it erased by a badass sword?
@Reapersbeast: You said that you read a little bit into Heathcliff's character on a wiki page so as for that "possible" spoiler, I'm going to go out on a limb and say at least half, if not all, of it is true. It seems pointless to keep putting posts like that in here. Why spoil it for everyone else because your curiosity got the better of you?

On a final note, if there were no "unnecessary distractions", and all they did was push the story up, it would be over too quickly, don't you think? How would he do that without those so called "unnecessary distractions" showing what they go through?
