Right now I'm watching and enjoying STRAIN. Besides the big names like Evangelion, are there any suggestions for similar mecha titles?
As somewhat of a connoisseur of mecha, I recommend Gurren-Lagann, Code Geass, Gunbuster, Star Driver, Gun X Sword, Macross, Vision of Escaflowne, G Gundam, Gundam Wing, well pretty much any Gundam except SEED.

I would recommend Tiger and Bunny as well as Sacred Seven. Both series are Sunrise-produced and they're both awesome (in my opinion). I would also recommend Nura: Demon Capital which is the second season of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.
omg i don't know if it's licensed yet but it should be... anyone not watching Ao no Exorcist ( Blue Exorcist- action , demons, supernatural) just keeps getting more and more awesome... same with Itsuka Tenma no Kuro-Usagi, legend of the legendary heroes and katanagatari, the sacred blacksmith, and i like historicals so if you do too watch Ikoku Meiro no Croisée and Houge Mono
also recommend fairy tail, full metal panic series, full metal brotherhood if you haven't seen, busou renkin, blood+, trigun, and my bride is a mermaid was rofl

It has been licensed by Aniplex of America (with a subtitle-only release), and I agree with you on the fact that it's getting better and better.
I'm pretty much open to anything someone can suggest, but there are some guidelines I need to lay out. First, I don't want anything that's heavy-handed psychological, or "pretentious" shows as they're often known. Sometimes I can't stand them at all, like Ghost in the Shell, while at others I really love them, such as Paranoia Agent. I would also like to avoid recommendations for moe' shows such as K-On! and Hidamari Sketch, as well as ecchi material in general, since most of what flips the switch for me is often not aligned with the taste of most others. Finally, I want to keep the episode count itself below the 26 mark; longer series tend to suffer arc fatigue when they could have gotten to the point much sooner.
But that only serves as the baseline for entertainment, or where not to go. For anything more specific, I would appreciate it if someone would recommend me something "stylistically energetic," such as Cowboy Bebop, Baccano!, Durarara!! and The Skull Man. As a bonus, I'd prefer said show to be dubbed in English, although I have no problem watching Japanese audio with English subtitles all the same. My MAL is in my sig to better give an idea as to what I was keen on and wasn't, and to avoid "repeat" suggestions. Hope it helps.
ok, so have watched ALOT of anime but I have hit a "dead end" so here are some of the ones I have watched and Loved: Elfen Lied, Soul Eater, FMA, Spice and Wolf, Sands of Destruction, Ouran HS, Jyu-oh-san, This ugly yet beautiful world, Vandread.
if anyone can recommend me a show or 2 I would appreciate it. THANKS!

Hmm...
If you haven't already, I'd recommend trying FLCL, which is about as "stylistically energetic" as you can possibly get--or in my words, completely and utterly insane. It does have a lot of symbolism, but you don't need to understand it to enjoy the show, since it's gorgeously animated and has a cast of really appealing characters.
It's on Hulu right now (both subbed and dubbed--the dub is outstanding by the way). I think, by the end of the first episode, you'll be able to tell if you'll enjoy the show or not.
I was hoping someone would be able to recommend a new anime for me to check out. I just finished watching Soul Eater which I though was fantastic and the FMA series has always been one of my favourites. If someone could lead me towards something like these series that would be awesome!!
Also if possible, it would be even more awesome if it was on Netflix, so I could watch it on my TV instead of my computer

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings is an awesome anime and season one is available for streaming. The second season is currently unavailable on netflix, but it is on hulu.com. Spice & Wolf is also a good series and, like Sengoku Basara, the second season is on hulu.com. I'd also recommend Birdy the Mighty Decode, Baccano, and Hero tales (Hirmou Arakawa, mangaka of FMA did the character designs for Hero Tales).Since you like the original FMA, FMA: Brotherhood Parts 1-3 are available for streaming on netflix if you have not seen this series yet; it is more faithful to the manga.
