I think so, but your tastes may differ. It basically revolves around playing the game of Go, so those not familiar with it will depend on the characters to enjoy it--and I think they're very appealing. As for One Piece--you should start off by watching the first 13 or so episodes (which are handily available via streaming wink ). If you don't enjoy the show by around that point (not unimaginable, as not everyone enjoys the art style), it's probably not for you. I personally consider it one of the best Shonen titles ever (and it has some filler arcs and padding, but I don't think it's yet reached DBZ's level, or even Naruto and Bleach's).

I'll give One Piece a try then. smile

If anyone can do this request i'll greatly appriciate it.

Hmm... not sure if you'll like them, but here are some suggestions.

I don't know if I'd call it a detective anime, but Death Note isn't a bad place to start. In case you haven't seen it, Death Note is about a notebook of death that enables its user to kill anyone unlucky enough to have their name written in its pages, so long as their face and name are known by the user. This triggers a cat-and-mouse game between Light Yagami, the student who finds the notebook, and L, the elusive detective that takes up the case. The series is 37 episodes long.

Monster is also a great show. Kenzo Tenma is a renowned, up and coming neurosurgeon in Germany. One day, he decides to save the life of a young boy against the orders of his superiors. While he is allowed to keep his job, this decision alters the course of his life forever. Years later, he meets the boy he saved face to face, and discovers that things are not as they seem. This is a 74 episode mystery series and is truly incredible.

Ghost Hunt and Psychic Detective Yakumo are two paranormal shows you might find interesting. Both involve spirits and the supernatural, as well as suspense and darkness. Ghost Hunt follows Kazuya Shibuya and Mai Taniyama and their paranormal investigations. Psychic Detective Yakumo is about a college student named Yakumo Saitou, who has a red left eye that can see spirits. Ghost Hunt is 25 episodes, while Psychic Detective Yakumo is only 13 - both are equally worth watching.

You might also like the When They Cry series. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is a murder mystery series. It reminds me of Groundhog Day, in that the events of the show keep repeating in cycles (although often much different each time). While it initially starts of with lots of humor and cute elements, don't let it fool you; it can also be uncompromisingly brutal. The first season is 26 episodes. It is followed by a sequel, the 24 episode Higurashi Kai, and a 5 episode ova, Higurashi Rei. Umineko no Naku Koro ni is the other show in the When They Cry series. This one is a murder mystery show that takes place in a mansion. Again, the Groundhog Day motif continues, this time with different characters and a different plot. Umineko is 26 episodes long. Both shows are phenomenal.

Not sure if these are what you're looking for, but I thought I'd share them. Most of them aren't really detective shows, but they all contain mystery and suspense. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reconmendations. I already since "Death Note" already, aswell as "When they Cry" & "Monster" (BTW Monster is one of my fav anime) but I haven't seen both "Ghost Hunt" or "Detective Yakumo", so maybe I can give it a try but still thanks. wink

I second this.

So I'm hoping you guys could recommend me something that will tear me apart emotionally, I've been watching a lot of comedy and feel good shows recently and I think a good heart string ripper would be good about now.

Now, I've seen all the Key productions, SaiKano, I guess His and Her Circumstances could fall into that category and a few others that I probably won't remember unless someone mentions it, so anything else you guys could recommend me would be great.

Monster is pretty sad from what I've seen of it (I'm like 26 episodes in) and all I remember from Now and Then, Here and There is how depressing it was.

I've actually seen Now and Then, Here and There, jogged my memory when ya mentioned it. I've watched a little bit of Monster, but I just couldn't get into it for some reason.

Thanks for the recommendations anyway though smile , if anyone else has any that would be great.

Elfen Lied is violent and has tons of gore but it has some parts that make you want to cry, it's also a short series i think only 13 episodes and an ova (correct me if i'm wrong). Grave of the fireflies has been mentioned, Barefoot Gen is along the same lines.
