Re: Otakon Predictions

Well..... I guess there's always tomorrow to hope for news on Roku app (maybe Geneon release dates too.) Also still got Steins Gate to look forward to so that's good.

Re: Otakon Predictions

Yay for Funi getting Akira. Now, hope they can re-release it with both the Streamline and Geneon dubs, and on the Anime Classics line on both DVD & Blu-Ray.

Re: Otakon Predictions

Really excited for Aquarion EVOL, additional Fairy Tail, the Fairy Tail film and home video release for Lupin the Third: Fujiko Mine. I'd give Funimation a 7/10. Very good but could have probably been better and less shounen-y. NISA licensing and releasing Umineko is equally good news, it's a fantastic dark comedy series (one cannot take it serious). I'd say a 6/10 is reasonable for them. Not interested in what Aniplex had to say so they just sit as a meh 5/10. Viz was just useless and disgraceful, so 1/10 I guess.

Just got Sentai Filmworks tomorrow, hope they end this with a bang.

Akira license rescue? The Tenchi spin-off series? The Fujiko series? More One Piece, including STRONG WORLD! Okay. I think FUNi wins this convention. smile

Re: Otakon Predictions

Yeah Funimation actually had a pretty solid showing this time. Glad their giving Lupin III another go at a physical release with the new Fujiko series, hopefully it fairs better for them then the movies did.

Also looking forward to getting season 2 of Fairy Tail as well as the movie, although I have to wonder why there holding out on the OVAs? Guess they wanna wait bait before they get em.

And of course glad to see the new Tenchi Spin-Off finally come stateside.

Honestly though the only big surprise imo was them picking up the new Battleship Yamoto, glad it'll be getting a stateside release.

Re: Otakon Predictions

Wow they nailed it for me today, much more happy with Funi than I was yesterday. Lain "very, very, special" blu ray box this year, Hellsing Ultimate with original cast, Black Lagoon season 1 and two later this year, and Roberta's Blood trail still being worked on. Now all I want to know is Roku app and I'll be thrilled.

Re: Otakon Predictions

So yeah, just finished looking at Sentai's announcements from the ANN article. Looks like Funi does "Win the con" after all. All Sentai announced was some otaku-centric fetish show, and a release date for the Grave Of FireFlies Blu-Ray and re-announcing that they will be doing a physical release for Kids On The Slope. And while i'm happy about GOF & KOTS, the only real announcement they had is well yeah....not my cup of tea to put in nicely. Sorry Sentai, just wasn't your game today. Better luck next time.

Also, still personally bummed nobody announced Sailor Moon or Mawaru PenguinDrum, oh well, theres always next con/next year. *knock on wood*
