A fun little thread Idea I had. Out of the Shonen anime you have seen which ones have had the most attractive female cast..and which have had the coolest dudes?
Also Please add reasons for why other then "BOOBIES!" or "SPIKY HAIR IZ KEWL!" lol.
As for me I would say on the side of the Ladies my choices would be....
Bleach: On top of the fact I like Kubo's art and he draws nice gals. I also like the way he writes his female characters (save Orihime...she & OP's Boa Hancoack are my 2 least fav shonen gals, lol.) IMPO Bleach's female cast is a decent balance between well-rounded chars like rukia, comedic chars like chizuru, and of course smexy chars like yuroichi, lol. Yeah theres some weak spots..but overall i think Bleach's female cast is sold.
Fairy Tail: Again aside from the fact I just like Mashima's artstyle. I like how he actually tries to give his female cast interstingm unique & well written personalities.
Case Closed: OK I may be doing a cop out here since Case Closed has a fairly small female cast..but Racheal & Ai harabara are both awesome chars.. one strong in body the other strong in mind. They make a nice balance and are both helpful to Conan during his cases.
OK those arn't all great reasons..but hey i'm tired, and this is just supposed to be a light hearted thread..so yeah.
So yeah those would be my fav Male & Female cast in anime, so what are yours?
And as for my anime brothers...
DBZ: Well I of course, I grew up with the show..and it packed with awesome guys. Goku is a great hero, Japan's superman. and the other male cast of DBZ is pretty good as well IMPO, all have interesting personality traits that made the show fun to watch, and still keep people interested to this day.
YuYuhakusho: Yuske & co have always been some of my fav male characters in shonen, yuske & hei are great fighters, Kuwabara is one of my fav "underdog" type characters, and Kurama is prbly my fav. A demon with a kind heart.
Case Closed: Its my favorite older anime, so of course I have to put it on every list, lol. But yeah Jimmy Kudo/Conan is a great example of what a detective should be. Kaito kid is suave & cool, Harly is a fun character and a nice friendly rival for jimmy. and of course mitch & george are fun.

Most attractive female cast...I'll say Black Cat - I
Eve in that black outfit of hers, not to mention that long golden hair really does make her look like a princess. Rinslet is pretty spunky so I have to include her. Last but not definitely not least is Saya who looks adorable in that kimono.
As far as awesome guys go, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood takes the cake. I say Brotherhood because Edward is a lot more mature in that version. Don't forget Mustang, Armstrong and Hughes. The combination of Ling Yao and Greed is also awesome, and even though he's a villain, I have to include King Bradley in this list just for being a pure bad-ass.
Attractive Shounen females, huh... that pretty makes me think of one thing:
Mahou Sensei Negima - After all, Akamatsu has pretty much built his career on them. Despite it's huge cast, even most of the side characters get a little development and the main cast is pretty distinct. Of course I'm talking about the Manga version, not the godawful anime adaptations. I'm partial to Ku Fei, Setsuna, Chachamaru and Evangeline(shut up, she's like 500 years old so it's cool).
Bleach - Oh Kubo... why are none of your interesting characters main characters, because it's easier to write? Why do actual interesting females like Hinamori, Unohana, Hiyori and Nel either suffer chronic-impaling-syndrome or get dropped never to be seen again? Even some of the female villains are pretty distinct. Instead we're stuck with a stupid-walking-medpack-with-boobs...
Pokémon - Let's face it, as far as shounen heroines go, Pokemon is pretty much the gold standard in terms of design and character development.
As for Shounen guys...
Gurren-Lagann - Kamina, that is all.
One Piece - Character design is certainly one of Oda's strong points. Along with his great narrative style, he's created dozens of iconic characters ranging from ultra-badasses to magnificent bastards. Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Crocodile, Bon Clay, Mihawk, Whitebeard, you get the idea.
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you.
As long as you remember Her, you are not alone.
Females- Tied between Seikon no Qwaser, One Piece and Kenichi.
Males- Tied between One Piece and Naruto.
Currently watching: Berserk, Fairy Tail, Bleach, Naruto Shippuden, One Piece, Ghost in the Shell, Yugioh: Zexal, Yugioh GX, Gun X Sword
Currently playing: Final Fantasy IX
Wait are black cat, negima,Seikon no Qwaser shonen anime? If so then eva she is a moe clone who kick ass! If memory serves eva came off as being distantly cold when she was a good hearted person. Male Creed Diskenth he is one of my favorite villains of all time! Trying to revolutionise the world in his warp idea. Yet never giving up on the idea of having train joining him until the end.
AWWW! I've never seen lelouch look so adorably moe! Or suzaku for that matter! XD
@codeGeass Technically Qwasar & Negima are partially shonen..(for better or worse
) But their Primary designation would be HAREM. So yeah, guess I should have been more specific... I was speaking more of general shonen when I came up with this thread...no harem or ecchi that were also shonen...but meh...its a free internet (for better or worse, lol) So I guess people can post what they want.
All Will Know The Wonder Of My Dark & Jewled Sky, When All The World Is Wrapped In An Eternal Lullabye.
Negima runs in Weekly Shounen Magazine. Shounen isn't a genre, it's a demographic. Shounen and fighting are not mutually inclusive. For example, Azumanga Daioh and Lucky Star are technically shounen anime.
If we're talking just about shounen battlers, I still argue Negima.
Do these look like a harem to you?
Don't forget. Always, somewhere, someone is fighting for you.
As long as you remember Her, you are not alone.
I can't say everything right now, but I will mention Bleach for females.
In terms of Bleach's female cast, Kubo does rather nicely with the designs. My two favorites [in both design as well as character] being Rukia and Orihime. Such good characters.
More when I can. ^__^'
