..... Wut!? I don't see anything about Dropping Squid Girl? maybe no Blu-ray but we should still get A DVD, anywho reminds me needa get the Squid Girl season 1 BD while I still can.
Media Blasters CEO John Sirabella posted a message on Friday on Media Blasters' official website regarding the state of many of its licenses. Sirabella confirmed in the post that Media Blasters no longer has the rights to the Bakuman., Rurouni Kenshin, and Berserk television anime series. Sirabella also noted while Media Blasters had once acquired the rights to Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei and Moyashimon, the company has no plans to release them and noted that "these titles can and may be licensed to another company."
Sirabella added that its AnimeWorks, Tokyo Shock, and Kitty Media labels are the only Media Blasters labels that will continue to acquire and publish titles in 2013, and Media Blasters will specifically focus on its Kitty Media label with the company releasing at least one Kitty Media title per month in 2013. Media Blasters will also focus on producing and releasing original productions through Fever Dreams.
Sirabella noted that many other Media Blasters titles have expired, but did not list others aside from Rurouni Kenshin and Berserk. Sirabella did note, however, that if fans have questions about certain titles, they can post their questions on the company's Facebook page.
Sirabella explained in the post that a "major back accident in [Media Blasters'] warehouse" slowed down the company. He noted that while he had once planned on letting Media Blasters end as a company to pursue original productions through Fever Dreams, he decided to rebuild Media Blasters. Media Blasters' office moved last year to New York City and then it re-opened a warehouse and the Fever Dreams studio in Belleville, New Jersey.
Sirabella said that Media Blasters is again focusing on acquiring new titles and releasing them on DVD through New Media. Media Blasters also announced it has acquired the live-action Zombie 108 film for its Tokyo Shock label.
Update: Media Blasters commented on its Facebook page that it will not be releasing Squid Girl Season 2.
Was hoping they were jsut pushing it back but I guess they are not gunna do it anymore.
For Berserk, Viz will get it due to the movies (now they can release the blu-ray edition). For Bakuman, it's most likely that viz will also get it. Now for Zetsubo Sensei, because MB isn't going to release it despite having it. It's most likely that they will let it go sometime and someone will get it. For Queen's Blade, it's most likely that Sentai will get it because they have Rebellion. For Kenshin it's either Sentai or Aniplex of America.

They still have Queen's Blade. They are releasing out the complete collection next week on DVD. He was talking about its sequel (Rebellion), which Sentai has.
Here's the full answer from their FB page regarding the release of Squid Girl 2 and the mention of Queen's Blade.

The answer is no but not by our choice. I hope that we can eventually get this resolved and going again. But for now do not look at it from us. In a sense we cleaned house in 2012 and everything is new and not continuations from previous series like [Queen's Blade]. Another company picked that one up.
I use to like Media Blasters. Their dub of Rurouni Kenshin is much better than Sony's dub. However, their recent treatment of GoLion is poor. Forget about the godawful packaging (both now and years ago), but the way they released GoLion is deplorable:
- Dirt on a large portion of scenes throughout the series and scratches.
- No English dub (my brother has trouble reading subtitles, I put them on for him).
- Some scenes are out of focus, have motion blur, and there is a problem with one of the episodes where letter-boxing is used instead of full screen.
On top of all this, Media Blasters likes sticking with the poorer quality DVD format, instead of having things in HD Blu-ray.
I wish FUNimation could somehow acquire the rights from Media Blasters for GoLion and redo it in Blu-ray with a cleaned up print and a dub. I'd re-buy it if done right.
Well, considering much of their back catalog is now gone, here's how I see their big stuff dropping:
Ah! My Goddess: If FUNimation wants it, it's probably theirs for the taking.
Guess: FUNimation
Bakuman: Media Blasters flat-out said Viz was taking it from them. I'd imagine they won't announce until they have all three season dubbed so it can run nonstop on Neon Alley.
Guess: Viz Media
Berserk: Maybe Viz will get it like they did the movies, but I don't see any rescues whatsoever in their back catalog and I doubt they'd want to promote a manga from a competitor too much.
Guess: Discotek Media
Queen's Blade: Looks like this ended up as one of the keepers.
Guess: Media Blasters (still)
Rurouni Kenshin: Another wild card as three companies potentially have stake in it (Aniplex, Viz, Sentai). I don't think it'll be Aniplex USA though, I don't think they're interested in longer shows.
Guess: Sentai Filmworks
Squid Girl: From what I'm hearing, Season 2 is dubbed and ready to go so it's really up for the taking.
Guess: Maiden Japan

It was in this artical that went up today on ANN.

I reject your reality and replace it with my own.
That's a shame about Bakuman, Rurouni Kenshin, Berserk, and the other shows.
Hope they can find a home with another licensee.
@Dragon well that sucks. MB you gotta get yo shiz togethah! Hopefully Funi or Sentai one will save Squiddy.
LET ME PLAY FOR YOU, THE SONG OF MY PEOPLE!!!

Avatar: Rosette and Chrono from Chrono Crusade
Just because Viz has the Berserk movies does not automatically mean they will get the series.
What a bummer about Squid Girl
I hope someone picks it up and continues it. It's a great show.
Damn MB
