Existing copyright law and DMCA are all that is really needed to take something down, just the government never enforces it or has trouble enforcing it. In most aspects, SOPA and PIPA are 80% redundant to these two when combined.
Every success helps. Any idea how much anime was illegally on that site? Most of the sites I saw linking to it used it for porn.
Er, or so I've been told.
MegaVideo was used for anime and MegaPorn was used for porn, I don't know for sure that guy over ther told me *points
In what conceivable way is this a good thing?
Taking down the streams means that people are less able to try out anime, which means less DVDs get sold.
What about sites like "Hulu", "AnimeNetwork", "Crunchy Roll", or even here on "Funimation", [HECK] even YouTube (if you go to the right channel)? There's plenty of anime being streamed legally.

Not in every country you ignoramus.
All of those bar crunchyroll only stream to the US, and crunchyroll wants you to pay for an account, which defeats the purpose of trying it out.

Few things.
1. I have CrunchyRoll Account and it IS a free account. The only thing of it that I use is the queue. I don't care too much about adds. Same thing with Hulu.
2. You won't always get something for nothing. Yeah, it would be nice to watch ALL of a series and there are plenty of streaming services that let you do that for some shows/movies, but there WILL be times when you'll ether have to wait till it's all out on those services or they WON'T and you'll have to watch the first 2-4 or whatever episodes just to get a preview of what you want.
3. True that not all countries have will have streaming and/or releases the same way we do here in the states, but there is nothing that we can do about it, only streaming services online will decide what will be released and what of it. It's call patients. Be patient, and maybe it'll come out.
and 4. HOW am I an IDIOT? The First two things above I have experienced while the third, I don't know for a fact, but I can take a guess as to if that is true or not.
Someone tell me that what I'm say has merit cause I'm just telling what I know.
Its a plus for the anime industry cause their matterial is no longer being streamed illeagaly. But for shows that are not licenced, yeah it does kinda suck. Cause now you might not be able to see shows that are not licened.
Done without SOPA? The illegal streamers still have other less reliable video sites to use though.

English dubs rule! Spread the love, raise the profit, get more anime.

I reject your reality and replace it with my own.
