If you watch a shonen series without the filler episodes, does it still flow?
Like, if I were to watch Naruto, Bleach, One Piece...or anything that's long-running and still going. Does it flow together without the filler?

If I'm understanding you correctly, you're asking if the filler arcs are unnecessary viewing/skipable?
@vata: Yes most shonen can be watched without viewing the filler and actually flow better without, the only one I can think of where you'd probably need to watch the fillers would be certain parts of Bleach & DBZ. But overall Filler isn't a bad thing it can be fun, the Naruto Fillers are pretty enjoyable, well the original Naruto fillers, Shippudens are kinda meh IMO.

Definetly. Cause even in the remote times that they ever refrence them for somthing. I know bleach brought up th ebounts a time or 2 once they started the Vizard/Arrencar arch. But otherwise they are completly skipable. Your not missing much by not watching filler.
I reject your reality and replace it with my own.
Sometimes filler works, and sometimes it doesn't. The best example I can give is Rurouni Kenshin. The first season had some filler, but it was decent because it gave Kenshin and his friends a few side adventures before going into the Kyoto arc. But the third season was ALL filler up until the end of the series
...that's the kind of filler you really want to avoid.
No, I was just wondering for a project. I do buy Naruto and was wondering if I rip the episodes (the bulk of it, no preview and might put in the opening and ending) onto my computer and remove the episodes that are filler, would it flow? Or does it seem choppy?
I would do this to One Piece, but i doubt the removal of fillers will save it for me, the pacing is awful in moving along in the story. But Bleach and Inuyasha, I might do it to them, since I do sort of enjoy them. Fairy Tail gets better treatment and has few fillers.

Most but not all.
For example, Katekyo Hitman Reborn! has what you can call "canon" filler arcs, which were written by the author herself and tell secrets about some characters and are referenced in the "main" parts of the story later on.
It depends on the series and the circumstance. Naruto and Naruto Shippuden, for example, have filler arcs that contain canonical events (as in filler episodes that contain events from the manga) that you would otherwise miss.
And as Kazemon brought up, you also have those series where the author has direct involvement with the anime-original content.
Although, I'm naturally biased towards it as well. [I think anime-original content and the expansion it brings when it does is vastly underrated]
@Sound: We'll have to respectfully agree to disagree on that. I honestly think Shippuden has a much better track record, especially in the 'fleshing out' department. [doubly so in regards to what they're currently doing, and it's by no means the only instance]
I think that Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece should have filler-free re-releases like DragonBall Z did.

Bleh, no thanks. I already think DB Kai was a waste. -__-
Though I would just like to point out that Naruto's original series did get a cut re-release on broadcast.
I don't think Viz and Funimation would want to go through the pain of redubbing One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto because filler-free versions come out. At best, they'd try and use what they have already recorded and dub parts that need to be done. At least with DBZ Kai, the voice acting is done a lot better...seeing as the last time before that, the VA last did the voice of Goku back in 1999-2000. Don't think Voz would have to do much to a filler-free version of Bleach or Naurto.
