Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
Well mine would have to be Shakugan no Shana...I have seen animes before like Dragon Ball Z and Zoids...but at that time, I didn't know they were animes...ahah
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
While my very first anime were "Pokemon", "Digimon" and "Yu-Gi-Oh", I didn't know that they were anime back then. I believe that my 'gateway drug', as you put it, was "InuYasha". It was the first anime that I watched knowing that it was anime, alongside "Naruto" on Cartoon Network (although I got bored with "Naruto" rather quickly) and it was after that when I began looking into other anime series.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
I kinda have a few, if that makes sense. Had a standard start with Death Note which was brilliant, but I had no idea that it was anime... I then got told to watch Bleach which I also watched, and continued to watch until a few months ago. I was told by a few people on gaming forum I used to visit that what I was watching was called anime, so I done a bit of research on it and thought not too much about it. THEN, while ClannadAS was airing I saw a few people on the forum saying that it was brilliant, a total masterpiece, which is 100% true. So, I went and found some download links only to find out that AS was the second season, so I quickly downloaded the the first season too, and started watching. At first I was unsure about it, not knowing what to think about it, but as it went on it grew on me more and more, and by the time that Clannad had ended I was so pumped for the second season I was like an 8 year old boy on christmas morning... It was worth the wait, AS blew me away, I couldn't understand how something which was ultimately just a cartoon could have such an impact on me, and I was determined to find something just as good or if not better than it. That is when I started watching anime, and sadly, I still haven't found anything on par with CLannadAS.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
I remember I was 9 when I saw Star Blazers, 16 when I saw Galaxy Rangers (made for US but Japan animated it), then Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Fushigi Yugi, YuYu Hakusho, and some others. But I didn't know anything about anime until I saw my sister watching Saiyuki around 2004 and started looking into it, ever since than we have been buying anime left and right, and watching as much as we can on ON Demand and internet simulcasts. We just can't stop.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
For me, the first anime I ever saw was, the mysterious cities of gold, I was glued to the TV every morning it came on, after that is was battle of the planets, and voltron, and eventually dragonballz, but to this day I still take time to re-watch the mysterious cities of gold, I have the deluxe release that came out a year or so ago
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
For me, it was DBZ when I was a little kid.
Not long after catching my first episode of that, I was watching every anime that Toonami and Adult Swim had to offer, and it just progressed from there.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
Well, I started out with Pokemon, and in my Pokemon Beckett magazine, I read an article about this new series called One Piece. In the 6th grade, I saw my friend reading a Shonen Jump. Reading One Piece from this issue is what really changed me from just watching anime on TV to actively searching for anime and manga.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
Naruto's what got me more interested in anime. I watched it regularly on TV and then decided I wanted to find more stuff like it.

While I was a devote watcher of Digimon Tamers and the original Dragonball, the first anime that I watched and really enjoyed, knowing full-well that it was a Japanese cartoon, was Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo. Started watching the show halfway through its run on Cartoon Network, and have loved Japanese animation and surrealist humour ever since.
Re: What was your gateway drug into the anime world ?
While its certainly not my first (not by many years), Gundam Wing was the show that got me so actively/specifically start looking for anime. Technically, my first were Puss in Boots, followed by Sailor Moon. But those were still only cartoons in my eyes.

Refuse to break, refuse to bend.
I'll be the one left standing at the end.
