I guess I must be the only one who is not to impressed with this series. The premise just seems a bit distasteful to me, going out and killing and eating rare and endangered animals and plants because they taste good? The society that it describes is also a bit silly with everyone being obsessed with food. When they were explaining everything in the beginning and the era of gourmets or whatever I couldn't help but think of those shows when they are talking about how unhealthy and overweight American society has become (not that I can say anything as I had bacon sandwiches for dinner )

I have to say in comparison to the manga I really don't like what the anime provides. I'll continue watching, but I'm definitely a bigger fan of the manga, and that will not change. Pointless edits and cuts from the story just don't aren't doing the show the justice it deserves.
I also would like to add that I don't find how its tasteless. Toriko only kills what he eats, seems to be that falls under the basic human instinct category.
In my opinion, the anime seems to do a better job of making the storyline seem... not as bogged down with senseless over-exaggerations of things. I think it is definitely tasteful to those who do enjoy fine cuisine, though probably not the best anime for supporters of PETA to be watching.
I think this is a great series although I do like the manga better since there's a greater contrast between the human character designs and the beast designs. Other than that real good series. In fact I'd say played right this could be another DBZ it's got it all, action, merchandise potential and not too much violence that it couldn't get on say Nicktoons. That would be awesome.
I decided not to watch this series until it's dubbed but I did skim through the first episode since I wanted to make some comparisons with the 2009 Jump Anime Tour OVA.
(Yes BOO illegal fansubs... but somehow I don't ever see this OVA being licensed since it was basically a pilot and it'll probably remain exclusive to Japan)
They're both the same episode but with some differences (besides animation)
*different voice actors
Since I'm primarily a dub fan I don't really fuss over Japanese voices but I will at least say that Komatsu's VA in the OVA seemed more fitting than his VA for the TV series.
Yes the VA in the OVA is a man and the VA in the TV Series is a woman but there are plenty of women who can pull off convincing male-sounding voices.
However the TV series seems to make Komatsu sound much younger; like a kid when he's actually 25.
Obviously when you factor in his personality and his appearance he's not going to have some manly voice but he should at least sound older; the OVA voice was perfectly fine IMO.
Seems like Komatsu's TV series voice is a miscast; though it wouldn't be the first time there has been questionable Japanese VA casting for certain anime characters.

OVA had some blood, TV episode did not
I read some comments that Toei watered down the Toriko TV series compared to the manga and it's very upsetting for some fans.
I guess because it airs to a children's audience on Sunday mornings that it's censored.
I don't need buckets of blood to enjoy a show but it is a bit annoying knowing that a "better" version could have been animated when the source material (the manga) exists.
Awesome series and i've only seen 2 episodes i see big things for this series.
I feel so out of the loop on this one... I don't even know what this is about, and I've honestly not heard of it until just a few days ago.
I guess I need to sit down and give it a watch, and see what's up with it.

There`s nothing special about this series. It`s so tasteless!
I like this anime. The narrarator souns a bit...off, but otherwise alright, besides the obvious editing from the manga.
A New Fan Of Toriko! Itadakimasu!!
Fun show, captured the manga well even with some changes. Can't wait for the eventual dub if FUni options the dvd rights.
