Hey Everyone,
As I watch more and more anime and see so many different levels of quality, my favorites list has gotten correspondingly complicated. I keep track of the titles and authors I hate, too. However thus far I haven't compiled a list of favorite characters. That list is forthcoming.
Anyway, here's my vast list of lists. I keep an updated copy on my Funimation "blog" too.
Unless otherwise indicated, lists are in alphabetical order, not order of preference. Categories are:

NOTES
1. CLAMP already had 2 titles in my VOMIT LIST before I finished the Manga version of Chobits. Unfortunately, Chobits-Manga was terrible, and it explained some vague references in the Anime in such a disappointing way that I had to demote Chobits-Anime from a favorite to a vomit-inducer. That was the 3rd strike for CLAMP, placing them in the BANNED list. Even Kobato wasn't enough to save them. In my lists, CLAMP is now officially proof of the anecdote that popularity has nothing to do with talent.
2. Negima: maybe this is a rip-off of Harry Potter, maybe not. Whichever the case, Negima's resemblance to Potter is close enough. Since I'm nowhere near being a Potter fan, present and future titles in the Negima series belong in the BANNED list. Besides, Negima!?: Magister Negi Magi was terrible even without the resemblance to Potter.
