The Baka and Test: Summon the Beast OVA hit stores yesterday. To mark the third release in the world of Baka and Test we are holding a contest that takes a certain kind of person. Someone who knows the value of knowledge and intelligence...and is willing to ignore all that at a chance to win some pretty sweet prizes!
Class F is looking for three new students to join them. Of course these need to be students who meet the class', um, standards. So we will be asking a series of questions to find the right candidates. The student who submits the "best" answer will join the class and be given a welcoming gift.
Answer the following question. Most creative, unintelligent, or 'BAKA' answer wins the prize!
We will be asking a question today (see below), Thursday, and Friday. Post your answer in the comments of each blog post to enter. You will have 24 hours to answer each question. Winners will be announced before the next question. You may enter once for each question. This contest is open to residents of US and Canada excluding Quebec and Puerto Rico. Click here for full rules.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the Baka & Test OVA take a look at the trailer.
synopsis:
Class F is back in the Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts: OVA Special Collection! Fumizuki Academy's popular Refreshing Festival is quickly approaching, and the student body is busy prepping class projects. For Yoshii and the gang, there's a lot more at stake than showing off for campus visitors. If Class F doesn't profit from its festival project and buy some new gear for its dumpy room, Mizuki's parents are going to send her to another school! Of course, even if the slack pack makes some money, they'll have to win one of the toughest Summoner Test Wars of their lives before they're allowed to spend it. It's not going to be easy, that's for sure. But once the underachievers of Class F get motivated, they don't give up - and they can't even spell surrender!
If you missed them Season One (DVD/Blu-ray Combo) and Season Two (DVD/Blu-ray Combo) are available now.
Question #1: Math
You’re on a train that leaves New York for Orlando at 8AM, going 60 mph. Three hours later, a train leaves Orlando for New York, going 85 mph. Orlando and New York are 1200 miles apart. What time will you be able to see the other train pass?
BAKA answer example: Who takes trains nowadays? I’ve never taken a train in my life. I’m not even from New York, but even if I was, I’d be taking a plane to Miami, and you definitely can’t see the train from your window when you’re above the clouds. Am I going to Disney World?

Seriously? There is more than one active train? Well based on the fact that a Train ride is entirely uneventful, except for the cow or four that gets hit along the way...which must add at least 14 hrs to the train ride anyways, Then there is always the robbery that occurs while picking up the derailment caused by the cows..add in several more hrs to answer questions from guys in black suits that turn out to be fake government agents and really just want us to take a survey...I would say that by the time one train passes the other I would have passed out from the mini bar in my train car, fell out of the train somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd cow and somehow managed to get to an Orlando beach at about sunrise. The better question would be, why am I wearing handcuffs, and what happened to my pants...
Let’s see…8 + 60 is 68, and if you subtract 3 from 85, you get 82. As everyone knows, 82 is the same as ten (8 + 2 = 10) and 68 is equal to two (8 – 6 = 2). If we add together the two times, we get 12 hours, or 1200 minutes. Since Orlando and New York are 1200 miles apart, and they would meet halfway through the trip, 600 minutes (or 6 hours) would pass. So in conclusion, I’ll see the other train when I look out the window (assuming I’m not asleep).
about the same time it goes by my window.
There are no trains in Gensokyo.
NEW YORK?! Am I supposed to be in New York?! No one told me I needed to catch a train in New York! 8 AM WHEN? TOMORROW?! OMG! How am I ever going to get to New York before 8 AM? I CAN'T DRIVE! Maybe if I leave right now I can walk there. How many miles is New York away from Pennsylvania again? Probably like 5 right? I bet I can hoof that. Okay, so saying I somehow make it to that train, cuz I'll just leave when I'm done typing, by my calculations, the other train will pass while I'm taking a nap. And since I'll have walked about 5 miles from Pennsylvania to New York, I'll sleep through that whole train ride. So with that logic I can definitely say I won't see the other train at all because I'm not some freak who sleep with her eyes open. Yep.
IM ON A TRAIN
IM ON A TRAIN
EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME CUZ IM RIDING ON A TRAIN
IM ON A TRAIN
IM ON A TRAIN
TAKE A GOOD HARD LOOK AT THE OTHER PASSING TRAIN!
......um im sorry what was the question again?
Taika Alive 625!
What time will I see the other train pass? I wouldn't. You said that I was on the train. You never said anything about where I was on the train.
Who said that I got a window seat? And even if I did get a window seat, you never said on which side the other train is going to pass. Who is to say that they sat me on the correct side? And what happens if a tree falls on the tracks? Or a cow wanders onto them. Then, no one would really see the train pass... Because it wouldn't pass. We would pass it. It wouldn't pass us.
And what train goes only 60 MPH anyway? Isn't that a little slow for a train? Cars go faster than that. I'd rather drive. I want my money back. And if I go get my money back, I wouldn't be in the seat to see when the two trains got to wave hello to each other because I'm too busy trying to wrangle my money back from whoever runs the train. (Would that be the conductor? Lets discuss this after class, I'm starting to worry about this.)
well i know i won't see it at lunch time because i'll be too focused on my food
