Entry period for this portion of the contest is over, to see the winning entry click this link

The Baka and Test: Summon the Beast OVA hit stores yesterday. To mark the third release in the world of Baka and Test we are holding a contest that takes a certain kind of person. Someone who knows the value of knowledge and intelligence...and is willing to ignore all that at a chance to win some pretty sweet prizes!

Class F is looking for three new students to join them. Of course these need to be students who meet the class', um, standards. So we will be asking a series of questions to find the right candidates. The student who submits the "best" answer will join the class and be given a welcoming gift.

Answer the following question. Most creative, unintelligent, or 'BAKA' answer wins the prize!

We will be asking a question today (see below), Thursday, and Friday. Post your answer in the comments of each blog post to enter. You will have 24 hours to answer each question. Winners will be announced before the next question. You may enter once for each question. This contest is open to residents of US and Canada excluding Quebec and Puerto Rico. Click here for full rules.

If you haven't had a chance to check out the Baka & Test OVA take a look at the trailer.

synopsis:
Class F is back in the Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts: OVA Special Collection! Fumizuki Academy's popular Refreshing Festival is quickly approaching, and the student body is busy prepping class projects. For Yoshii and the gang, there's a lot more at stake than showing off for campus visitors. If Class F doesn't profit from its festival project and buy some new gear for its dumpy room, Mizuki's parents are going to send her to another school! Of course, even if the slack pack makes some money, they'll have to win one of the toughest Summoner Test Wars of their lives before they're allowed to spend it. It's not going to be easy, that's for sure. But once the underachievers of Class F get motivated, they don't give up - and they can't even spell surrender!

If you missed them Season One (DVD/Blu-ray Combo) and Season Two (DVD/Blu-ray Combo) are available now.

Question #1: Math

You’re on a train that leaves New York for Orlando at 8AM, going 60 mph. Three hours later, a train leaves Orlando for New York, going 85 mph. Orlando and New York are 1200 miles apart. What time will you be able to see the other train pass?

BAKA answer example: Who takes trains nowadays? I’ve never taken a train in my life. I’m not even from New York, but even if I was, I’d be taking a plane to Miami, and you definitely can’t see the train from your window when you’re above the clouds. Am I going to Disney World?

Question #1 Prize Pack

  • Hetalia Axis Powers: The Complete Series DVD
  • Pani Poni Dash!” The Complete Series DVD
  • Baka and Test postcard
  • Baka and Test poster, autographed by Alexis Tipton, voice of Mizuki Himeji

I read this one somewhere.

well, let me ask you this, what time WON'T we see it pass?

Well, I'd be able to see the other train at the time it is in sight..... if I was looking out a window. Which I won't be doing because I'll be reading manga or sneaking a panty peek. Plus it makes me feel sick.

See, I don't think people should be taking trains nowadays. Global warming is killing our planet. And if you take the train then you're a planet killer too, and the ghost of a dead homeless dude might haunt your bathtub, which is also why you should recycle, and hug a spotted owl, and try to stop talking so much if you can. It's mostly how I feel.

Well logically, it could be one of two answers:

1) When they pass each other.

OR

2) Not at all.

Which brings me to ask in all seriousness, THERE IS A TRAIN LINE BETWEEN NEW YORK AND ORLANDO?!?

O.k. first things first let me find a map . Well I couldn't find one so I'll draw what the US should look like but I'll draw half and fold it over to save some time. Hmm, it kinda looks like one of those RadioShack tests cause I see a butterfly, what does that say about me?...Done! So pin it on the wall, hmmm...I'm not a hundred percent sure where New York or Orlando is so I'm just gonna throw two darts at my map. But wait those two cities are supposed to be 1200 miles apart...my paper is definitely not big enough for this. I need a bigger piece of paper Oh hey I found my old Gameboy . Wait what was I doing? Argh put this down. Okay "I'm on a train". I think the bigger question is why am I on a train? Why am I going to Orlando? How did I get to New York in the first place? I'm so confused! Hey, when did I draw a butterfly...

Trains, oh I love trains. You meet the most fascinating people on trains...like that blind guy...he was begging for change when he could have made millions being a psychic...even though he was blind he knew when women were bent over...they must have back pains and was attracted by their pains. Now back to the question...let's see time...hey, how about the time I met a nice group of guys. They must have been performing artists of a dance group because they busted into the train yelling and screaming for the audience to get down. They had this funny name S.W.A.T...They seem to be looking for snow. Snow. I can get that for them off the ground. Maybe it's exotic snow from central Texas or California...Maybe it's an endangered species or something...anyway now back to the question...two trains were passing each other...reminds me of that time I rode the train at midnight and passed a train...everyone on that train must have been going to one of those new zombie parties or a costume contest...I really like the guy with the scythe...it looks so real...but really should he be driving a train waving that around...Wait!!! What was the question again??? Oh it's one of those Math questions!! I don't know...and what does it matter as long as the other train is not on the same track going the opposite way...Wait what was the question again?????

Am I playing a video game or sleeping through it? And what if I'm taking a leak while the other train goes by? Then I'll miss it entirely and have to look for pictures on the Internet to see what it looked like! And what if I don't know the name of the train -- how will I find it? And what if only weird pictures come up? I'll have to say a quarter after 7 in the morning, but it really depends on how badly I have to go in the middle of the train ride.

...Well I don't think trains can cross the Atlantic Ocean, but assuming that they could, that you can get from New York to Orlando by train, then the answer is still not possible in our world.

1) Everyone knows that trains are on a track, and if two trains are on the same track going in the opposite direction then there will be a HUGE COLLISION like a egg in the microwave. Knowing this, I wouldn't be on a train.
2) Trains are U-G-L-Y! I think we can just walk and swim there. I've spent some time studying the map and I can honestly say that the Atlantic is only about 2inches wide. My bathtub poses more of a challenge than that!

So, the answer about me seeing the other train that supposedly crosses the Atlantic and supposedly that I am riding, the time is actually 4pm on another time-space dimension in which I will be [resent after death, dreaming about riding ugly transportation for a distance of 2 inches. See? This question was so easy, I don't know why everyone else was having such an issue with it...
