"bug zapper" is ok but i really prefer "sparky", it makes more sense with the nickname having to do with the sound of misaka's electricity. kuroko calling misaka "sissy" just feels wrong. oneesama is a term that shows respect and i don't think kuroko would call somebody she respects "sissy"

(I really get what you are talking about with this one, it sounds like an insult and kuoko would never insult misaka like that.)
"SISSY SISSY COME ON!" "I still can't contact sissy" "the railgun misaka mikato sissy" "No WAY SISSY NO PLEASE STOP"
Kuroko is a hard charcter to act because A) she has wild personality changes depending on the situation B ) she was never meant to be a main character like in railgun C )it is easy for her to be annoying with a great VA, if you put someone who is not able to handle her personality shifts she will be VERY easy to hate as a charcter.
I agree "Sparky". Is better than zapper. It is a minor issue though. Sissy feels very incorrect. Some Japanese words like onee sama fit better and even in an English dub I think the meaning is understood and it's use widespread enough that it doesn't cause translation problems.

the only reason I can think for why they did this was because sissy is two syllables and oneee sama is two syllables. I would say that while sis is one syllable, you could make it 2.
WOW, if Funi uses "bug-zapper" or "Sissy" in the dub I'm gonna be really disappointed. This isn't just about something minor lost in translation, it's a part the character's identification. Misaka's nickname should be short and catchy like Biribiri, or even Sparky. They should stick with the original context as much as possible. On a side-note, I would if the Blu/DVD will include the parody, "A Certain Magical Index Tan", they're very hilarious.
After hearing this about the subbed translations for index (I haven't yet watched the funi subbed versions), if funi does dub it like the subbed then I will definitely not be watching the dubbed version. The choice of translations would just ruin the entire atmosphere of TaMnI. I have just recently taken some Japanese classes, so I would personally be fine with leaving Onee-sama and BiriBiri in (even though sparky is a fairly good translation, much better than bug-zapper). However I do know that some people could be a little offended if they do not translate everything fully. I am not sure what a good translation for Onee-sama would be with the way Kuroku uses it. Sissy just seems extremely insulting to me.

honey maybe since a lot of times married couples will use the term, and it can be flexible in it's meaning unlike sissy and more like onee-sama. also kuroko doesn't really see misaka as a sister but as a wife or girlfriend it always seemed to me

good luck communicating that context if you don't know she actual says oneesama (if you only saw the dub you wouldn't), or don't know what oneesama actually means.
I dont think its a good idea to start assuming what they are going to use in the dub just based on what is used in the subtitles. As for Kuroko, i direct your attention to Miharu, the resident psycho lesbian, from Baka and Test. her English voice actor used a whole variety of terms of endearment and i think that would work in this as well
