Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

Railgun has gotten more exposure in North America with the Railgun manga, while Index itself has gotten practically zero through legal means.

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

Good point. For most, the only way to read Index at all is to read online translations.

Even still, DVD is satisfactory enough for me. Though it helps I have an up-scaling DVD player.

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

Hopefully Index WILL get a Blu-ray down the line, and season 2 gets picked up as well. The fact that the LNs/manga haven't been licensed is really annoying, although the former is a hard sell and the latter...well, Seven Seas can't release it because it's a Square Enix property and only Yen can do it.

Amazon just bumped my pre-order to December 11? I wonder if we'll hear any news tomorrow about a delay...

Aria is J.C Staff and and they don't do full hd for tiles. Shana season 2 and beyond will not use the original cast as an alternate track so stop asking. Funimation has already said they would not use them.

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

I would like to see season 2 of index and the movie get picked up by Funimation but not if they are just going to sit on the title for four years per release. I hear Railgun is also getting a second season release in japan. This is one of my favorite titles to come out.

Glad to see Index season one at last getting a street date! and with Railgun season one to follow. Its to bad the Railgun special and OVA have little chances of getting picked up by Funimation, Let alone the second season of Index or the movie due to the very long delays in a release.

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

The Index/Railgun specials are hilarious, but they are pretty short and would be kind of hard to dub without missing out on all the in-jokes and wordplay. Same could be said though of the Shana-tan shorts I suppose and they managed to dub those. I definitely would like to see them as subbed extras at the very least and wouldn't mind being double dipped on an eventual Blu-ray release if the shorts were included. (doh! did I say that out loud?)

The OVA is a nice standalone story, but since it's one episode it wouldn't make sense to release alone. Given how the OVA from the recent/upcoming release of Steins;Gate didn't make the cut in the main release... I don't have high hopes for Railgun's either. tear

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

@Neil: The only reason there was a delay at all was due to a dispute involving a merger buyout of the original right holders (Geneon). It had absolutely nothing to do with Funimation itself.

Is this confirmed? I thought I read 25 would be included in Part 2.

Re: Blu ray/DVD release?

I thought I read somewhere that the run-time of the second set of Steins;Gate was too short to include the OVA, I may have to read up on this some more...

Edit: I guess I need to stop worrying and read more blog posts...

I suppose given the delays of Index should be encouraging to expect the shorts. As for Railgun, I suppose it would be silly to speculate too much, but if Steins;Gate is getting the OVA treatment... bah... it's all a wait-and-see game!
